Ciro *supposedly* dropped in from a hole in the roof. Why exactly are we trying to go further into the dungeon rather than escape?
Also I forget where it's explicitly stated, but we have amnesia, right? That's why we can't remember anything from before we woke up in that room?

i weren't here during dl1, but that's the exact thing we should try should we ever get there with a ladder

That would likely be impossible. To accomplish our goal, we'd have to have an up ladder in our inventory. To get to DL1, we'd need the DL2 ladder not in our inventory. It's a catch-22 situation.

Given that we managed to carry a down ladder with the hole it was in, I'd assume that we'd now have a down ladder stuck in the ceiling with a hole hovering above us. The only question now is what would happen if we tried to go through that hole from below...
