My favorite game mechanic is Proxxy. *snort snort*
Oh answer, you so silly.

In a less rambling and more sensible, laid out way:
-Specific Equipment Slots (Examples: Arm, Arm, Body, Head)
--Purchased like how we do things now
-General equipment slots (What we have now)
--Raised through the use of bags and storage devices, such as our backpack
-Eventual ability to stack more than just coins
--Unlocked later
My sleep deprived crack at it.
Not a bad idea. Assuming FFS doesn't want us to magically sprout slots, it could be easily implemented by making the limited-use slots a specific item like the Bag of Slots (e.g scabbard, coin purse, etc) available for purchase (fairly cheaply, given the restrictive nature of those slots.)
Hm. That got a little wall of texty. Probably because I also am tired. TEAL DEER: WE NEED, LIKE, EACH CHARACTER TO HAVE ABOUT ONE MORE SLOT THAN THEY'VE GOT
This sort of stuff could work. More officially, and if we wanted to stick closer to the current mechanics:
Weapon ContainersItem-specific containers that don't themselves take up a slot. Buy a scabbard, hold one sword for free. Buy a holster, get one free gun slot. Book satchels, potion belts, coin purses... anything you think it's okay for us to be carrying around, we could potentially go buy a free container for. More advanced versions might carry multiples.
This would also retain some GM control, since we'd still be at the whims of availability and price.
Loot ClustersGive us some way to stash multiple items in one slot, but only if we're not using them. That'd make it useless (or at least unideal) for weapons or the like, but a good way to carry currency, vendor trash, and utility items. Maybe give us a Lootdenser to perform this task with. The icon could just be a cluster of smaller versions of the component loots.
Also if you wanted to be a
real dick you could give us the Lootdenser but not the Delootdenser, maybe even forcing that to be a town/storage/random event service.
