I've recently been looking at Firefly fanfiction.  There are a disappointing amount of Mass Effect crossovers with Firefly. And for some reason there are a lot of HarryPotter/Firefly fanfics.

Firefly is very awesome stand alone, but I don't feel it's style meshes well with other universes. Maybe Firefly/Bladerunner or something like that might work...

Heh. You might, at least partially, blame nonjon for that. A good one popping up, especially fairly "early on", so to speak, can bolster the amount of stuff that ends up in the same area of fanfiction. Though there's only a couple or dozen or so on FF.N. Compared to some Xover pairs, that's... not terribly many.

I've been watching both Xena: Warrior Princess and Supernatural, and I definitely think that there needs to either be a.) Romance or b.) An Epic Fight between Xena and Gabrielle vs. Sam and Dean. The mythological stuff and pairing just makes me think of the other show all the time when I watch one.

Harry Dresden and Skulduggery Pleasant meet. Go.

Skulduggery Pleasant fan here, never read Dresden. Skulduggery has the (teneous but there, depending on the book) backing of the mages of Ireland, along with a few contacts who can get him information/snappy suits. Plus, he has a revolver as well as magic so he's backed up if Harry's got any "anti-magic" spells up his sleeve.

Dresden's usually also packing mundane weapons and has a variety of contacts and allies. He really can't claim to have the backing of the mages in general, atleast not in the earlier books I'm at, though.

Not having read Skulduggery, they sound fairly similar (dunno about the power level with magic here). Also, how did this immediately devolve into a fight? I'm sure they'd rather team up.

I tend to assume fights just happen. I'm thinking the scenario is that they both have to get the same artifact and a few awkward accidents happen that do not endear them to each other. However, I agree that Skulduggery would prefer to make friends if Dresden's not a worshipper of the Faceless Ones/very very evil.

Lord of the Rings would pretty much get exploited to Mordor and back. Seriously, they have it easy; everything is 'good' or 'evil.' Then comes in these ambiguously power-centric folks at the heads of armies with convincing messages... Grima got nothin' on the high council.

Although you do bring up a good idea.
