Having decided to accept the Academies challenge, you prepare yourself for the voyage* towards the academy. Luckily, the academy has provided you with a Hyperwarp trip, meaning that the voyage takes only a few days, as opposed to the small month that other vessels need. The academy itself is a rather strange almagation of ship's and asteroids, docked together to form some sort of spacestation. You can see the fleet exercising in formation, and some firing drills in progress. After a short guide throughough the station, you finally reach the simulation room in which the challenge will take place. The room itself is equiped with highly advanced nanotic changeable panneling, allowing it to simulate every known ship, and the supercomputers driving the simulation are amongst the best in the entire order. After a fairly long and mostly boring lecture on how the thing works, the test can finally begin.
" I'm fairly certain that you don't need the lecture, but protocol requires me to explain to you the background and the goal of the mission. The battle takes place in low martian orbit, during the Martian rebellion. The rebels had gathered a large amount of ships, but were generally illequiped and badly commanded. Neverthelless, our historians think there's a fairly good chance, that with proper leadership they would have been capable of holding back the vanguard of our fleet. Since simulating the entire battle would take us too long, we will be focusing on the battle for Mars's primary space elevator. The battle progressed fairly well for the rebels so far, though now the enemy is pressing on and they're forced to fall back. The elevator is of tremendous tactical importance, and should they loose it, the battle for Mars is surely over. You're going to control the small taskforce ordered to defend the elevator. Enemy forces are one their way, and might outnumber you. However, there's plenty of friendly support, and the space elevator isn't exactly defenseless. Also, you do posses of a special weapon, though it's useability is limited.
The enemy ships advancing are mostly Corvettes, though intell suggests carriers might be warping in shortly.
