Recent experimental:
Anyone know where to get diesel? I've been searching gas stations but I've only seen gasoline pumps so far so am I having bad luck or am I missing something?

Bad luck.  ~Half of gas stations will have 2-4 green gas pumps, which are diesel.  You can also siphon diesel out of large trucks with a hose.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Jersey Wastes regional gen.

Nothing but forests and towns forever.

Also why is there no creeks? Anyone know where to point me in the right direction codewise to check that out?
Take a look at overmap.cpp, the entry point is overmap::generate().
You'd probably want to do something along the lines of broadening the river generation code, but marking the new ones as brooks that generate rivers a single overmap square wide.

Well, considering we have an Internal Storage CBM (basically a little safe in your chest cavity), putting a large hole in yourself for any purpose isn't out of the question.

I always wonder whether that thing is some kind of pocket dimension portal, or is it making my chest bigger?  If it is just adding a pouch onto/into my torso, why shouldn't I just use an ordinary pouch?  ???

I foresee somebody is going to say something that assumes that the chest cavity is empty, so I preemptively mention that it is actually filled with your heart and lungs etc.

Theoretically you could rewire nerves and reroute blood vessels, remove a few ribs and thus make space for a small storage space. Sounds like pretty major surgery, though.

There is the internal storage CBM, which claims how radical its storage thing is.  I imagine the Internal Furnace is more like a miniaturized wood chipper and some type of weird arc furnace, where you have a small opening just below your ribs, and you press items against it and tiny claws/gears start to snatch it inwards, ripping it apart to feed tiny bits into the furnace itself.  Probably near the stomach, and rigged to trigger your body's "am eating" response so that bloodflow increases to the digestive system and helps carry away the excess heat quicker.

Ok, another bug, pits that spawn at farmhouses can't be filled, but pits I dig can be. Version is 0.b-2484/b5cab4a

EDIT: Also, wearing a subject suit, army pants, and chaps encumbers my legs, which seems slightly odd. The subject suit I intended to use as a slightly warmer underwear that helps the otherwise poorly covered arms, but it seems it counts as regular wear. I basically pictured it as a very thin, fairly tight, form-fitting bodysuit made of cotton/synthetic fibers. Is it intended to be different? Otherwise I was thinking about possibly altering it with the flag that lets it layer with outer clothes.

I thought the subject suit was more like bulky coveralls. They don't care if you're comfortable or not while wearing it, because test subject.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

Query; how does one go about acquiring charcoal? (besides looting)

Make a charcoal kiln. (Fabrication 3)
Fill it with combustables (Filled charcoal kiln recipe).
Activate the filled kiln to ignite it.
Wait until it's finished burning (6 hours).
Disassemble the finished charcoal kiln to get your kiln and 15 coal.
Build multiple kilns to mass produce charcoal.

Alternatively, find a coal pallet and use the "charcoal" recipe (requires a pickaxe).

Remember that the burning kiln generates light, so you can read by it, and monsters can see you in the dark if you're nearby.

A charcoal pit might be a nice addition. The good old fashioned way to make charcoal was simply to build a nice little bonfire in a pit and bury it before it burned too much. Not the most efficient method, of course, but at one point it was all they had.

Why don't human/zombie corpses provide bones, fat, or sinew?

I don't know about you, but I for one fully endorse armoring myself in the bones of my fallen enemies. Maybe the next time a survivor thinks about shooting me, they'll notice that I'm COVERED in human bones from head to foot and think better of irritating me.

Then shoot you anyway. But yeah, I think it would be really neat to have special "Survivor Slayer Armour". Maybe even carve a weapon handle out of the bone...

You should be able to use bone for wood in most recipes...

Also, I suggest the more things from more things. Killing a skellie and getting no bones, or a fat bastard and getting no fat? Just silly.
