In my latest game I found a basement parlor thing with probably 4000 units of various flavors of booze...suddenly wish I had taken the hobo background :P

Nothing says you can't make a career change mid-game.

Just checking here, but is experimental 0.A - 2062 crashing at character creation for anyone?

Getting a "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way" error once a world was genned and I hit New game custom character.
Creating a random character works fine... until you hit the scenario tab.

Playing the experimental I downloaded yesterday, the Sheltered Survivor start put me in the middle of nowhere between two towns and many single-monster hordes after several "cannot find shelter" debug messages. Eventually gave up after multiple infections and the pain from cauterizing reduced my stats to 2-3. I did manage to kill an awful lot of zombies including dogs with my bare hands and no skill.

"Thank God for rednecks."
I modded in twinkies that give you +100 morale and are found very rarely on child corpses.

^ Loved that movie.  I was thinking of doing the same but never got around to it.

So I start a new game and notice the house I'm in has a basement. I wonder what goodies could be in there!

I walk down the stairs and discover a cannabis farm. Flipping on my flashlight, I discover about 13+ zombie dogs just hanging out in the back of the basement.  :v I nope'd out of there faster than you could throw a stick.

Edit: Also does anyone know what causes loud VRRMMMMMS and HRRRMMMMS? It's disrupting my character's reading.

Apparently when you have 9+ encumbrance on your torso, tossing your woodaxe at enemies is more effective than trying to hit them with it.

Generally, yes. 9+ encumberance means a 9+ loss of melee and dodge skill.

Anyone else spontaneously combusting in latest build (2064)?
^ How I accidentally read this, and thought "Yeah that sounds like a plausible bug." :P

Any word on the next stable release?

Vehicles that still have working motors have a chance to still be on when you find them. If you hang around eventually they'll run out of gas, but if you only visit a location occasionally then they can last a really long time. Most of the time you can find them by the smoke coming out of the back, but quite often the controls are damaged so you can't turn them off.

Quite useful for finding gas for your own vehicles, though.

Vehicles with working motors make that sound. Usually I take out something heavy and bash the offending vehicle until they stop making noise. If you have a wrench, removing the engine works. Or you COULD turn it off normally, but that's less fun.

I'm now imagining a scrawny, nerdy, be-spectacled Hollywood Nerd-y character flying into berserk rage at a car for disrupting his reading with a sledgehammer.

We are doomed. It's just that whatever is going to kill us all just happens to be, from a scientific standpoint, pretty frickin' awesome.
