is it me or in latest build vehicles are made of crappy paper? made one monster tank with debug menu, about 8 tons IIRC, 24 inside wide wheels, few plasma engines, every tile armored with hard plating... it got half broken just by riding offroad, bushes tore forward armor and frames/boards like they made of FUN metal, and after one tiny touch of the side of evac shelter completly destroyed my car (on same vehicle i could ride through a forest and towns without much problems, actually - making new road through a forest on high speed was really fun thing) :(

What was the armor and how fast were you going?
Because tearing through shrubs with only some thin lumps of metal welded onto the front of your vehicle, at high speeds, will never be a good idea.

Will vehicles stretching acrossed multiple Z-levels once those are in ever be possible? Like mechs or something?

not much speed - about 80-120 kph
and i repeat - EVERY tile of car was covered with hard plating, except doors, plus additional bumper at forward of the vehicle (cabin - all boards with small window, bumper - frames)

superalloy have ~ same durability as regular steel plating, only less weigh, hard plating have highest durability

Superalloy actually has slightly less than steel's durability, while Hard has slightly less than 3x steel's durability.  Superalloy weigh's something like 1/2 of steel's weight, while Hard weighs 3x steel's weight.

Perhaps the cars structural integrity collapsed on itself due to the weight.

Superalloy isn't super because it's stronger than steel, superalloy is super because it's nearly as strong as steel while being a lot lighter.  As far as I can tell many of the 'high tech' supermetals 'of the future' aren't so much more durable than stuff we have.  It's more that it's durable AND light enough to actually be used.

Still bushes?  I may not be playing the most up to date version but even a bare frame car can take out bushes no damage.  Maybe it's the high speed causing the issue?  I rarely see any need to go over 70 myself or maybe it's those thicker forest tile bushes?

I would like to point out he is using kph and not mph. I don't know how that converts but just pointing that out.

Oh.

...Darn these non american countries, why can't they use silly and arbitrary miles and feet and stuff like we do instead of using that sensible, easily remembered and already widely used metric system? :P

I fully endorse tileset support and eagerly await the day when I can play Cata without feeling mildly terrified that at any moment I might notice a growing scintillating scotoma in my vision.
I want to amplify this sentiment. I've got some double vision that comes and goes depending on how dry my eyes are, so playing DDA with ASCII characters is uncomfortable at best, a squint inducing pain at its worst. I don't have this problem with non-ASCII games.

Or be like UK where we measure speed distance and fuel efficiency in miles (per gallon) but price fuel in litres...

* Tiruin hugs her metric system.
:I

While I'd wonder why we differ in measurements despite studying a lot on that matter, I'll just say 'we've got conversion factors' to help memory. :P

Though those additions in the options are really laudable. Those little details shine sooo much.

..And I really love how circular distances help melee combat :P

So I have to ask. With the prices do they do the 9/10 of a cent thing as well? Because in America every prices is something like #.## 9/10 because of a holdover from when they actually changed prices by the tenth.

Erm, prices? It's a marketing scheme wherin it 'seems' less due to the tiny deviation from a whole number (29.99 instead of 30!). I believe it's worldwide there.

..But here's my query. Prices? You mean in trading, right? I believe it's due to the downfall of society and whatever economic system used.
