So...Toady adds in a creature from Dungeons of Dredmor to support cooperation between Bay12 and Gaslamp?

And in what way are plastic bolts in DF?
You follow the link and find out for yourself.
I haven't been able to make plastic bolts in DF, though.

I honestly have no probably with Toady chosing to make cameos (sorta) in his own game.

So long as it fulfils these criteria
1) They fit the game
and
2) They are fully developed

The issues here is that they not only do not fit the game but they are not a fully developed species.

I gave a list of traits that are still unanswered

Quote
What do they eat? How do they act? How intelligent are they? What are they made of? What is their beak made of? What internal organs do they have? How large are they?

In otherwords in order to be in the game they have to be a creature first and reference second.

I read the description, even after doing so... I still don't know the reference.

The description notes that dwarves often resort to bone bolts. Aside from the fact that a lot of players start with bone bolts and never use metal, it can describe DF attitudes towards bolts.

Apparently, this is a diggle:

And it evolves into this if you trade it:

...So, they're basically boring, average, underdefined mooks?

They are subterranean, burrowing reasonably intelligent, social birdthings.  Basically they are Dredmor's kobold or goblin race.  Some of them are mooks, some of them are really powerful, but in DF they should probably be almost exclusively mooks except for when they get corralled into doing demon-duty.  I'm not suggesting they be made a big part of DF, because that wouldn't make sense.  Just a critter that you might see now and then when you breach caverns.

Yes, and as such they don't have enough lore and character to be added as a subterranean random encounter, unlike such fascinating creatures as the Flesh Ball and the Giant Toad. After all, the criterion that determines inclusion of creatures is "underdefinition".

They are just another animal to add to the game! Why do they need some sort of gimmick?

Diggles are enough of a mascot for Dungeons of Dredmor that permission would probably be needed to have them around. Besides the burrowing gimmick it's pretty much just a raw edit to add another creature which is so trivial that asking what it would add to the game is silly. It's a subterranean bird with a drill beak that is totally within the lines of the fantastic universe DF has.

If Toady wants to ask them about adding it then good for him. If he doesn't feel like adding it then I'm sure a modder will have fun with it.
