In the event that a nuclear bomb goes off, generally there will be a ten-mile radius which the bomb will impact the most. As in, you're completely and utterly fucked if you're in it. Let's say you're within this radius, you have about twenty minutes to get out of it or you're screwed. Let's say you can't get out of it in time, the best way to maximize your survivability is to immediately roll up all windows on your car, and turn of the air conditioning. Then, you want to face your face away from the explosion. The flash can temporarily blind you, or even permanently blind you. Then, open your mouth while keeping your eyes shut. With your mouth open, the sound wave from the blast won't immediately blow out your eardrums. After that, try to get underground however you can and as fast as you can or you'll be killed by the gamma rays. Go to a nearby cave, basement, wherever just get the fuck underground and it'll provide marginal protection from radiation.

Doesn't make much sense. The magma rays will have hit you already.

Pure heroin actually does not damage the organs - it's the adulterants and varying levels of quality that make it so dangerous.

Pure heroin will still make you addicted as shit, though.

And apparently isn't even very enjoyable. As in, in terms of highs. I think it was some video about this place that does free rehabilitation as long as the addicts go to church sermons and do some manual labour. Anyway, the guy featured said that it just made him feel itchy and uncomfortable. So yeah. Don't do heroin.

Also, he made it very clear he had every intent of unloading it in exactly 3 seconds!

Unfortunately, I have no useful knowledge and can not contribute to this thread.

You can get some useful knowledge here, which I think is a very useful thing to know.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Opiates can and will cause damage to organs in various ways. There is no such thing as a 100% safe drug or medication.

No, he was undercover, actually.  Really funny how they didn't... y'know, run a background check... or, I dunno, have him remove his hood?

Maybe they thought that since he didn't talk jive turkey and there wasn't an afro shape under his hood he must've been white?

If you ever take an injury to the neck, do not attempt to stuff anything in the wound, nor apply pressure. There's a pretty good chance you'll cut of the airway.

Applying a tourniquet to a seriously bleeding limb is a perfectly good response, provided that they get professional, surgery-level help within six hours or so. Mark people with tourniquets with a "T" on the forehead, preferably in sharpie. Blood will work, but it's got a habit of rubbing off.

Note: medical professionals on the scene may, of course, overrule these handy guidelines, but they're fairly good tips.

As is not removing an implement that is imbedded in someone - often doing so will do more harm than good, especially if the implement is preventing blood escaping.

Mercury is a liquid due to it's valence shell(outer most sub-shell) electrons traveling close to the speed of light.

We just need to get Toady to embed a Lisp interpreter into DF.  Learning lambda calculus in order to play the game wouldn't make DF's learning curve much steeper.

Consuming mercury does not prolong your life.

It also won't give you its innate speed.
