More points to spend in character creation?
« on: December 15, 2012, 06:46:55 pm »

Is there anyway to increase how many points you can spend in character creation? I know that's cheating but I'd like to just screw around a bit and explore without worrying about dying every time I take five steps.

I don't know what I'm talking about, but here it is anyway:
Character creation is hardwired.
Custom creature raws aren't. Mod in a critter with natural skills and have fun.

Since Grizzly's answer wasn't as confident as it should have been, I'm going to go on and say, with confidence, "what he said".

You can use cheat engine and edit your starting points with it.
You can probably google it right?

Yep. You'll want to search for the points you have available at the start. Maybe in hexadecimal, I'm not sure. Our local code gurus should know better than I the wonders of hex editing.

A value of 4 bytes is enough to do the trick.
So how you do it is:1.Put your current points in.
2.Change the value and scan.
3.If 1 single value didnt appear change again and scan again
4.Double click it to go down and either change it or mark it with an X to stay that way.

You could also create a caste under the creature (if its human do the caste under humans etc) in the creature_standard. In it you can add ex: [NATURAL_SKILL:SHIELD:5] for the caste to get 5 natural skill in shield. You can then choose the caste in adventure mode then you create your char. The same way you choose gender (which basically is a caste).

Then you can change the POP_RATIO on it to 1 and the others to 1000 to ensure that there rarely will spawn naturally.

I highly recommend adding [AMPHIBIOUS] to the caste as well, because then you can kill those extremely annoying underwater quests in the sewers.
