You munch on the rabbit, using the blue fern as a seasoning.
The food fills you well, the fern and rabbit going well together. The fern tasted slightly bitter, but not too bad to eat.
Getting your things together, you start to feel strangely warm. Sitting down for a moment, you try to figure out what's happening. It wasn't exactly a fever, but you did feel rather hot. You found your senses to be somewhat... better, especially that of touch. Taking out your journal, you label the blue fern as "warning-aphrodisiac. Possible use in sense-enhancing drugs."
You wait a while for the effects of the fern to die down, while trying to figure out what your other plants will do.
4 You do figure out a little more about the spear-stalk, in that it's very useful in healing salve. It can be ground very easily into a paste and feels very good on the skin- even more so with the blue fern in your system.
You start to feel less hot after a while, but you still momentarily have better senses. You identify gunfire again, and head out of your cave with your M1911 and supplies barring firewood.

It takes a while, and you figure you've burnt a good amount of time, but you come across a dirt road. Parked near an empty tent, there's a 4-wheel ATV with keys still in the ignition. Searching around, you find the previous owner- give or take a few holes.
Taking a moment to respect... whoever it was, you find some sticks and tie together a makeshift cross.
Grabbing some extra fuel from the encampment as well as the tent, you drive the ATV back to your "home". The tent is easy to carry along on the ATV, and the fuel will keep it going for a good long while. The ATV is about the biggest thing you can manage to drive up to your house.
Time passes, and you hear another motor in the distance. It seems to be getting closer for a while, then it stops. You think you hear voices, and take your M1911 out yet again, topping the magazine off.
You bide your time, warm by the embers of your fire. It's the afternoon and nearly dark, your military instinct kicking in. If someone was after you, now would be the time...
After a while, the motor from earlier kicks up again and you relax. There's definitely life here, and it's hostile. This, you're sure of.
