While we're hanging around town letting people get used to us and chatting folks up, let's send out some feelers to try to find out where Snang's equipment ended up, so we can start planning how to get it. We could say we have a niece back home who's a prodigy in the outdoorsy pursuits, and we're looking for some small sized hunting equipment to bring back to her.  The real working stuff, not just wooden practice toys.

I think asking after her gear with a stupid story would be a bit blatant. We already have beartraps and a spare knife, and if we go after the blacksmith for the key me might find other things for her to use as well. If we are feeling brave and she reeeeeeely wants her stuff back we can work that out once she is free.

It will be a big risk, but you could approach the family in the house with your books, explain you once killed a goblin and stashed his things under the floorboards before they moved in. Explain that as a poor wandering Lepper you were hoping to keep yourself going by selling the books to intellectual types in the capitol or mudcups.

I don't think trying to buy her is going to work.  I'm also not suggesting we be stupid enough to ask after her gear directly.  But if we provide people with an opportunity to volunteer us information on some gear that coincidentally happens to be hers, working out how to steal it (doubt we can afford steel weapons) later might be easier.  We don't even know where it is right now.

Our talking skill are better than our sneaking and killing skills. We got a 17 on a luck role when we asked her if she was for sale. It might not be cheap, and it might not get her the gear she wants, but I think buying her is our best chance in terms of pure odds. I think going after the blacksmith has the biggest payout though. Who knows what we can steal from him. I'm torn. Lets see what the intelligence says.

I'm all for trying to find her stuff, but its hard to think of a story that wont make our situation obvious or just end in someone referring us to the local blacksmith who can make what we need.

I think we'll need more than 8 coppers if we want to buy her, though. We need to find a way to make money, but if we want a job we'll need to be around humans who might see through our "disguise".

Do we remember any legal way for a goblin to be a part of the Confederation? If we could fake the papers (simple enough), we could probably avoid being captured.

Or, barring that, actually apply to be part of the Confederacy.

Guys, we want to make friends with the humans, that is fine...

But we shouldn't start in the town that decorates with piked goblin skulls.

Amen to that.  Part of carrying off a con may be to act like you belong there, so as not to arouse suspicion, but we seriously don't belong here and should take off as soon as we've collected our book stash and our first companion(s).

I'd settle for either or if need be. I'd love to get both, but we need to get the hell out of town fairly quickly, and grabbing either could get messy.

With the hunter in our party we can stay out in the wild longer and get some of the book-stashes we were not planning on getting to right away.

And I'm sure we can find another ally soon enough if we have to abandon the poor girl to her fate and split before we have the chance to save her. That slaver in the swamps might be a good place to start wether we free her or not.

Yeah. She should be a bit of a higher priority than the books. But all is not lost if we lose her.

We need to gather intelligence, and investigate each of the leads we received last turn. The action that clearly has the highest chance of success should be the action we pursue first. We don't know enough to decide what to do yet.

I think having Snang will make the books attempt easier, honestly.  She seems to be more skilled at B&E than us, as well as general stealth.  She might be able to sneakily steal the book stash for us, or create a distraction so we can pinch it, and then evade more effectively than us when people go after her, and meet up with us afterward.

Yeah. Lets just try to buy her using my 'Poor wandering leper needs a slave' angle. If they seem receptive to such a bargin try to get them to throw her armor, or at least a set of respectable clothes, into the bargin 'so she is not such an ugly mess of a sight to look upon.' She will then be clothed and we can give her one of our knives. Between those and the trapping supplies in the wagon she shouldn't be hurting for gear and we shouldn't have to go out of her way to fetch her things.

We don't need the copper to help get the books, she can do it. If the sale goes through take down the job offer and tell anybody who inquires that the position has already been filled.

Alternatively, if they seem wealthy but don't look very scrappy, have Snang lie in wait to backstab the shit out of them while we talk turkey, and take their stuff.
