Niko:

Before heading out for the day, you leave your two starting Pokemon alone in the base bell tower.

You head out to meet up with the Cubchoo selling contacts, and get to work. Instead of going door to door today, you stand on a busy looking street corner and yell out that you have Cubchoo for sale for the world to hear. Eventually a shady looking customer wearing a KotS hat buys one off you. You are rather thrilled about his high offering price, so you make the sale without questioning his motives.

You get back and find your Pokemon have left you an Eevee egg! It will hatch after 2 total forum turns or missions!

Roll After Mods = 15

Sami:

You drag Tick Tock down to the scanner and throw him in. It runs for several minutes without apparent issue, and you escort the prisoner back to the cells before pouring over the results with Carlos.

Sadly the images you get back are merely purple and white blurs. "Shit. That mutant bastard used a telepathic field to fuck up our scan! These are worthless!"

Roll After Mods = 7

You head over to Rik's workbench and get to work dissecting the drone. You find the Artificer's help invaluable as you pull apart the unit and set to work anaylising it's makeup.

Rik begins testing and probing the medi-drone's shell as soon as you get it off. After a few minutes and smiles. "Alright. The people who made this drone used some pretty cool materials. This stuff simulates the shell of an Aaron or other sturdy Pokemon. Its a bit too heavy to be made into armor for humans, but if you can fund the process, I can reproduce the substance.

You can now build drones with the Sturdy Ability for an extra 2000py!
Roll After Mods = 16

Lucian:

You bring Mark back to the interrogation room and begin to drill him about Waymor McCain and the NPO. He tightens his lips at your inquiry, and it takes you almost an hour of assuring Mark that no harm will befall him before he tells the truth.

"Alright. I did some work for McCain. He wanted me to sign up with the NPO traveling athletics squad, but I knew my girlfriend hates the NPO, so I turned him down on that."

Mark sighs. "Instead we came to a deal. I shoot five propaganda videos for the NPO, and he would secure passports for Claire and I to emigrate to a mutant controlled territory elsewhere in the world, likely the Citystate region in the old American Pacific Northwest. Claire and I could live there without fearing the PCNA showing up to kill us at any given moment, and they have a vibrant extreme sports scene to boot. I even make McCain promise not to air the videos until after we were gone, so Claire wouldn't have to know I helped the NPO."

You decide to ask about McCain's whereabouts, and Mark answers honestly. "Last I saw him, he was working on recruiting Mandy Melborne, a girl who lives down in Septicslum and just recently evolved. She would know how to get a hold of him. I could call him myself if you were to trust me with the Telephone."

Having never heard of Septicslum, you ask, and the answer amazes you. It would seem people have inhabited the sewer system underneath the northern end of Tropical Sands and most of the NPO's turf. The standard of living down there is low, illness and death run rampant, and half the system is flooded by the tides during the full moon, but seeing as it is the only reasonably inhabitable place on the island not controlled by a faction, people still live there.

New Location Found on Map!
New Mutant Available for Capture!
Roll After Mods = 17

Susan:

You drag Kull down to the OR, where Carlos is waiting with a small machine attached to Jumper Cables. "This is a primitive older model essence extractor I pulled out of a box back home in Belfast before I came here. The WPSF wouldn't let me take any of theirs! If we can take a sample of his living and dead essence I should be able to re-work the formula to process mutant essence into a form we can use. This is very sensitive equipment, so follow my lead carefully dear."

Following directions carefully you attach the cables to Kull's chest, and turn the machine on to setting '3'. The old motor roars to life and the mutant screams in agony. About 30 seconds in the machine hisses and sputters and Carlos swears. "Fuck! It must have been jarred a bit when I had it shipped over! I need to re-tune it."

Dr. Gonzalez hands you a fist full of money and tells you to get some potions from the vending machine, as the tuning process would likely cause Mr. Kull harm before harm needs to come to him. You run off to the machines and return with the drugs, only to find it to be too late. "Blasted old piece of garbage caused a power-surge and killed the subject. We might as well tune it up on his corpse and poke around to see what we find!

Kull has died!
Roll After Mods = 11

You take the scalpel and blowtorch (Kull's body is not easily cut) and got to work with a basic dissection. The procedure passes without incident, and you manage to sew up and preserve the corpse for future use. Sadly Dr. Gonzalez fails to make any breakthroughs after examining your findings.

Roll After Mods = 12

You patrol outside HQ for a few hours, but nothing of interest happens whatsoever. Eventually you give up and head in for supper.

Roll After Mods = 11 (jeeze the dice hate you)

Doug:

Knowing that you are unlikely to have another chance, you wake up before Rags and drag Kull down to the interrogation cells. Since you know your usual methods don't work on him, you bring a blowtorch and some gasoline. You have him talking about the prototype within minutes.

"Its a combat bike. All sorts of new technology imported Europe and Japan on that thing. All sorts of cool features I wrecked it two days before that bitch captured me, and sold off the parts. The frame went to my partner Myanard, the Engine was sold to a couple geeks from that NPO Sponsored university, and the Weapons System was sent to my nephew in Septicslums."

You spend the next hour or so getting all the information you need to try and capture any or all of the individuals mentioned as having parts of the prototype. Even if you are not intrested in the bike, you are sure Rik and Sami would enjoy messing with it's parts and you would enjoy messing with the people unlucky enough to own them.

With a chuckle you leave Kull to his fate and go get some breakfast...

Sami + Lucian + Doug:

Sami decides to head out and hunt for some Dark Type pokemon, and Lucian and Doug both agree to tag along. After a brief debate about location, the hunting party decides to try their luck in the swamps.

After a few hours of searching, one of Sami's drones spots a pack of Skorupi lead by a Drapion, and the party closes in to engage. An ambush is easily set up, and the battle begins on your terms. Guide and Lucian blast the little bugs with embers, while Sami's Serviper and Doug's Rhyhorn do battle with with the big scorpion!

The fight doesn't even last a minute, and when the dust has settled all the wilds have been captured or fled into the marsh. Sami manages to bag the leader herself, and notes that it is lower leveled than Drapion's in most regions, but it is still a powerful dark type nonetheless.

Sami loses 1 Great Ball and captures a Lvl 22 Drapion!
Doug loses 6 Cherish Balls and captures a lvl 16 Skorupi with the bonus moves Poison Tail and Confuse Ray!
Lucian loses 5 Pokeballs and captures a lvl 16 Skorupi!

Group Roll After Mods: 22

Niko + Lucian + Doug:

The three of you find Faust trying to haul a bunch of heavy boxes and crates into HQ from the docks on his own. "More supplies, and we are getting a new agent as well!" He announces.

The party quickly tells Faust to get back to his office, and leave the heavy lifting to their Pokemon, who are in need of training. For the next few hours your Pokemon work hard moving stuff from the docks to the storage area. Doug of course steps in and whips the Pokemon he deems to be under-performing, inflicting a few injuries here and there.

Niko gets 71 EXP
Lucian gets 34 EXP
Doug gets 78 EXP

Llewyn:

(Faust and Carlos both have reputations you would know of. Check the introduction on the bottom of the first page of this topic)

You arrive at Port Cane by boat in the evening, and are met by Heinrich 'Faust' Schulze, the agent in charge of base operations. "You are Storm correct? Good. Listen, all the other agents are busy doing stuff at the moment, and I have to haul the cargo from this boat inside, so let me call my secretary over to give you the grand tour."

Faust gets on a radio and barks for somebody to get down to the docks, and several seconds later a girl in her teens comes out of the base to greet you. You can tell she is an Eevee mutant by her long pointed ears and the brown hair the covers her body in patterns, as if she were groomed as a poodle.

"What is it Faust? Rags just killed a test subject and I'm stuck doing the resulting paperwork for her! I don't have time for lifting luggage, and it isn't in my job description."

The veteran agent shakes his head. "Lucy, this is the new agent who will be staying with us. Give her the tour why don't you."

The girl's eyes light up and she offers you her hand to shake. "Oh. I can do that sir. I'm Lucy, pleased to meet you Miss..."

The woman hesitated a moment, then extended her own hand, shaking firmly. One would note, whilst her hand was not quite clammy or cold, the touch of her skin always felt as if she had just been through a fine mist.

"Llewyn Blue. Just 'Storm' or 'Stormy' if you're feeling informal.

Or-Junior Field Agent Llewyn Blue, special detachment from the Elementalist Academy, Air and Naval Subdivsion-if you're doing it officially."
she said, smiling slightly herself. "I trust my personal accommodations have been prepared in advance? I'm eager to get started..." She queried, picking up her small set of bags and container, walking alongside Lucy.

Llewyn really did feel quite dry. Given her...unique abilities, daily hydrotherapeutic meditation was something of a necessity, for her and her pokemon.

Behind her, a small, scruffy Psyduck had waddled along placidly-one that had seemingly blank eyes and an emotionless expression, or perhaps they shown with an inner light-either way, it was certainly discomforting to see, at least to others aside from her trainer. Over Stormys left shoulder-a blue, turtle like pokemon-a Tirtouga-momentarily stuck her squarish head out of one of the small water filled cylinders stormy carried on her back, found nothing interesting (to her at least) and retreated with a hmpph and a gurgle.

(Damn Ninjas. We will just assume Rags went along for the ride, insults and all)

Lucy smiles. "We have a room with a bed, desk, and pillow. The rest is up to you. Come on, I'll give you the tour."

The headquarters are set up in an old stonework church. The kind of building that would have been preserved as a monument in a more peaceful time or place. Inside most of the pews have been torn out, replaced by cubical walls to divide differ sections of space.

"Most of the main space is the mess hall and rec area. Ignore the scattered file cabintes. We are still setting up the office and such. Office space is up where the Alter used to be. If the desk in your room isn't enough, you have the right to request some space there, but please don't, its a mess as is." Lucy smiles.

"There are proper converted bedrooms behind the offices. Most of them used to be various storage cubboards or clergy dressing and meeting space. Real walls, not cubeical stuff. Take any empty room you want."

The mutant points down a set of stairs. "Those go to the catacombs. The PCNA cleared out all the graves they could find before giving the site to us. We use them to house our labspace, holding cells, and freezer. I'd avoid the people in the labs, they are monsters, and the dude that usually works the interrogations, he's a sick pervert."

Lucy gestures to the balconies, which are blocked from view by stacked layers of cubical wall. "Faust and that monster Gonzalez have turned those into private apartments. Bathrooms are in the small yellow building you saw coming up from the docks, this church pre-dates running water. We have sinks inside now, but nobody ever added space for baths and toilets."

The strange Eevee girl offers a soft smile. "Any questions? I suggest you get settled fast Stormy. It sounds like you all are heading out on a mission tomorrow."

Rags came back in from her patrol, setting the safety on her shotgun on and putting the weapon away from now. She was just in time to hear Lucy complain about the 'monsters' working in the labs and rolled her eyes as she came around the corner. "Honestly, Lucy. We can't afford that sort of soft-hearted behavior; we need every advantage we can get and besides that, the more we learn from our experiments, the better." She sighed and turned to the new arrival, sizing her up. "It's nice to have another agent around. We've gotten into some pretty dangerous scraps in our time. I'm Doctor Susannah Traverse. Or Rags, if you prefer." She held her hand out towards Llewyn.

Llewyn nodded, a bit disappointed. Regulations stated most Elementalists needed special daily immersion for optimal psycho-kinetic control of their calling. She had expected a bit more, and not such a disaster zone. Perhaps the Academy has been a bit too comfortable?

She supposed that was the reality of field duty, and decided to tough it out. It couldn't be hard to set up a nice tub. And would probably be the least of her worries, soon enough.

"Ah, I'm fine, thank you very much Lucy. I may as well stake out my claim before..."

She noted the newcomer-a tough looking woman with a shotgun (which Stormy noted, needed cleaning), and who had an air of someone who had been rapidly seasoned by recent events-a calm, alert look Stormy associated with some of the older Agents she had known during graduation.

Stormy gave her a similar handshake to before.

"Nice to meet you Doctor. My name is Agent Llewyn Blue..." She said, unconsciously leaving out the 'junior' "Or just Storm, or Stormy.

I've been assigned to assist here, my first official mission of course, and... "
she paused a moment, flashing the charming smile that was said to be one of her greatest tools, a heart melter if there ever was one. "...well, I suppose you need all the help you can get." She finished, motioning to the 'accommodations' and quirking a single eyebrow.

It was as close as Stormy ever came to joking outright-she was usually very formal, and most people would have missed it entirely.

Susan nodded. "I suppose Lucy has been telling tales about Carlos and I. Yes, it's true we capture and study as many mutants as we possibly can, and yes, it's true that around 99% of the time these studies end in the subject's death, but we're not the monsters she would like to make us out to be. For the most part, the mutants we operate on are the dregs of society - murderers, thieves, gangbangers... the most recent one, Kull, was thoroughly unpleasant. I'm not in the least sad to say he died on the table, and I'll readily admit that I planned on it, even though it turned out he was unsuitable for my current line of research."

She shrugged. "Of course, it won't just be me you're working with, although it will most likely be me keeping you alive out there. There's Ms. Sami Taiya, who builds robots; Mr. Niko Gerrin, who breeds pokemon and has many Eevee evolutions; and Mr. Lucian Constantine, who sees auras and channels pokemon and a lot of other things I can't scientifically explain. Back here at the base, of course, we have Lucy there, who Lucian wanted to join us as a secretary; Faust, who really means well but is a little too soft on the thugs around here; the Smith sisters, who are vehicle specialists; and Dr. Gonzalez. Carlos," she qualified after a second.

She leaned on the wall and looked Llewyn over. "I notice you have some water types on you. Are you a specialist of some sort?"

She nodded...Eevee! Maybe she could finally get one of those Vaporeons.

And, Figuring display would work better than words, she held out a hand and concentrated. In a few moments, a few small spheres of water begin circling before forming into a watery tornado. She let it spin for a second or two, then absorbed it back into her own self, leaving on visible residue but another fine, refreshing mist in the air.

"I suppose you could call me a psionic, but that wouldn't be exactly accurate. Aside from my specialized skills fighting with Water Types I can manipulate water forms specifically-much like a pokemon-and to a much greater degree than a general practitioner. I suppose that's why they sent me to an island...

I could bore you with the science, but suffice to say, my unique talents are more spiritual than mental-innate, rather than trained. I could do this for most of my life, but training them to...attack, has been much more difficult. It's not like learning to use a gun, more like...turning a piece of yourself into a weapon.."
Stormy said quietly, then immediately wondering if she had said a bit too much.

Stormy first motioned to her Tirtouga, which had poked its head out of the cylinder and was giving Susan a look of barely concealed poke-condescension.

"Well, as for my pokemon, this sleepy little beast is Strom. She's a bit overbearing, but generally friendly. Right, Strom?"

The turtle-mon responded by sinking back into it's container.

"Ummm...and well, and my Psyduck over here is Mael...try not to be intimidated. He's quite friendly. Most of the time."

The psyduck turned it's strange, glowing, eyes toward the newcomer Rags-looking at her (or into her soul!) with something that could be fervent intensity, or just mild disinterest. It was impossible to tell.

Rags returned the pokemon's looks evenly. She wasn't one to scare easily, as the incident with the death water proved. "Actually you would be completely incapable of boring me with the science. I would love to understand how it is you - and Lucian, incidentally - do what you do." She thought for a moment. "I take it you're skilled in the care of water-typed pokemon as well. Would you like a tympole? I captured one, but I'm more of a Grass and Poison type myself, as my Ivysaur will tell you."

Lucian turned a corner, looking a little ruffled and slightly dirtied, "Lucy, have you seen my red sword? I left it in the den during the last mission and it's gone now," he asks, then notices Rags and the new girl, "Hey Rags," he says then turns to the new girl, "welcome to the team, I'm Lucian Constantine."

Susan nodded to Lucian. "Mr. Constantine. This is Llewyn 'Stormy' Blue. Lucy was showing her around the place, and I was telling her a little about you and our other two allies." She motioned from one to the other. "Llewyn, Lucian; Lucian, Llewyn." She then stepped back to wait for Stormy's answer to her question about the tympole, and to allow the two a chance to talk a bit without her stepping in.

Llewyn nodded to Lucian but didn't shake his hand. Such intriguing eyes, she noted.

"...I am glad to be here, Mr. Lucian. Hopefully you all can give me a quick briefing on your progress here once I get settled, yes? What reports I read were conflicting and...overly optimistic, it seems.

As for the Tympole, I would like a chance to train it. It's a species I'm not too familiar with, and I do like a challenge...which I'm this place will provide no shortage of."

Rags nodded and took out a pokeball. "Her name is TL Hopper. I'm sure you'll take better care of her than I can; she hasn't gotten much exercise under my care, sad to say." She held the pokeball out to Stormy.

((Thanks Serc! Sheet is updated, char finalized...made some changes to my char, too. Heh.))

Stormy took the pokeball with a grateful nod.

"Much thanks, my interesting new friend." She replied, smiling once again.

...

Later

Llewyn didn't have much to decorate her room with-aside from merit medals, and her watercolor easel. She lay on her bed, trying to get use to the discomfort of it.

Today had been well enough, but she didn't know how the first mission was going to go. All the training...and she was nervous. They didn't train you to deal with that. She supposed she could follow Doctor Susannahs lead if things got rough. And she had a feeling they would, and soon.

It was what she had signed up for, wasn't it? She didn't want to become another family researcher-probably hadn't the wits to do it if she had even wanted to. No, it was the military life she wanted...that it was, that it was. To serve and protect. To make her own way...
