Pokemon Defenders of Cane: Forum Turn Thread
« on: November 13, 2012, 12:07:27 am »

This is the Forum Gameplay Thread for Pokemon Tabletop United: Defenders of Cane. (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=118892.0)

Please go to the other thread to sign up. Discuss the game, system, schedule for meetings, or anything other than your forum actions. Yes, I could have easily done both sides of the game on one topic, but I forgot to reserve some posts.

Please only post your first actions once Kujiun has given your character final approval.

Rules for Forum Turns:

Between missions each trainer heals up to 4 injuries and then gets action points to spend. A character who healed no injuries gets 3 action points, a character who healed 1-2 injuries gets 2 action points, and a character who healed 3 or 4 injuries gets 1 action point. Once the action points are doled out, a Forum Turn begins.

Each action point may be used to attempt one action on the forums between sessions. Action points do not rollover, and are lost if not used. You may only attempt each action once per forum turn, unless it has more than one skill you can roll for it, in which case you must roll a different skill check each time.

For example you can roll Survival or Technology to go Pokemon Hunting. You can go Pokemon hunting once using Technology and then once using Survival. Pokemon Training (for now) just uses Command. You can only do Pokemon training once per session.

If two or more players work together on a between session action, 1/4th of the lowest roll is added to the highest roll, and all players reap the benefits (where applicable) if the higher roll is a pass. If four or more players work together on a between session action, and something bad happens, the player who rolled second highest will make a perception or intuition save with a DC of 16 to prevent the bad stuff from taking place.

When posting your actions for a Forum Turn, please include your relevant Mod for the sake of GM Sanity.

Available Actions:
(New action types will be made available as you complete research and missions)

Item Investigation: With the help of Rik, the artificer sent to you by the Barren Peninsula community, you can investigate rare, high tech, or supernatural items that you acquire during missions or forum turns. The skill and DC rolled varies by item. Item Investigation can unlock new items in the shop, contribute to research, or provide other bonuses. The item will be destroyed on a roll of less than 7.

Investigateable Items:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Hunt Mutant: You know the location of one or more mutants in accessible territory. You can try to capture said mutant with a Brawl, Intimidate, or Command check, or you can try to sell their whereabouts to the PCNA for a reward using charm or guile. The DC to sell a mutant out varies based on their location. The DC to capture a mutant varies from mutant to mutant.

Known Mutants:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

KotS Contacts: Roll to seek out and collect data from a KotS Spy. Paul will pay you 1500 per pickup, and you might get the chance to look at the intel yourself. To make a pickup from a spy you must roll a Charm Check with a DC of 15. Each of the spies offer additional skills you can roll against. You can't pickup data from the same spy two turns in a row. Once you pick up data from a spy 3 times, you know his whereabouts well enough to sell him or her out to the PCNA if you so choose. Paul will give you a mission once you make a pickup from each spy.

The Spies
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Mutant Shipping: (No. Not that kind of shipping) Pick a live mutant to send back to the Detention and Research Center back in jolly old England. It costs 500py to prepare a shipping crate, but you will be compensated for the transfer based on the number of successful actions performed on the mutant, as well as your diligence or deception (Focus or Guile) in filling out the related paperwork. Payment is 500 for each research or interrogation successfully performed on the mutant (capped at 2500) + The result of your guile or focus check multiplied by 100.

Pokemon Training: Pick up to three of your Pokemon when you choose this action. If someone else chooses this action, you may pick up to six. The more the merrier! You may choose to inflict injuries on your Pokemon for even more EXP as well. When we calculate your action results, I'll tell Weird how much EXP you get, but the key points are how many Pokemon you're training, what levels the Pokemon are, and how many injuries inflicted. Your group EXP is calculated on the first two factors! Do note: the amount of injuries you inflict upon your Pokemon only benefits you, and not the other players.

As long as Doug Vincent is at the base, while training Pokemon you may pick one of the Pokemon being trained that has a free tutor point and roll a Intuition, Charm, or Command check with a DC of 16. If you succeed, the target loses 1 Tutor Point, and then learns a move from its tutor list marked with an (N), or any move on its level-up list at a level lower than their current level.

Pokemon Hunting: Pick a spot on the map and roll either a survival or technology check. On a 14 or higher you catch a Pokemon of the GMs choice based on your location. You then lose [1d6-the skill your rolled] Pokeballs at random (always at least 1). When you declare this action you may declare any of your Pokeballs off limits for use this way. If you only use basic Pokeballs you will never catch an evolved or single stage Pokemon this way. If you allow use of an ultra ball, or a Pokeball with a situational bonus in the correct situation, you have a chance of catching a Pokemon with an unusual movepool, type, and/or ability should you roll high enough. If you think one of your Pokeballs with a situational bonus may apply to your Pokemon Hunt, feel free to let the GM know.

Exploring: Pick a spot on the map and roll your choice of Athletics, Perception, Intuition, or Stealth. On a 14 or higher you discover some useful or informative occurrence of the GM’s choice. On a 4 or lower something bad happens to you. You can raise both DCs by 3 to specify what you want to discover from the following list. (If you don’t specify, you might find stuff that isn’t on the list)
-Capture a mutant alive
-Capture a member of a rival faction alive
-Kill a mutant
-Find a lead or tip for a mission
-Find an opportunity to trade Pokemon with an NPC
-Find an opportunity to purchase or trade for a rare or homebrew item

Interrogation: Pick a prisoner and roll Intimidate, Guile, or Charm to make em talk. The DC is 14 if you are asking a very specific question that you suspect your victim knows the answer to, or 18 if you are just probing blindly for information.

Research: Pick a willing, dead, or restrained target and research it. The DC and modifier depends on what kind of research you are doing. If you roll 18 or higher on any mutant or fully evolved Pokemon while researching, you unlock a new research project. See research projects for more information. New kinds of research will be unlocked through further research. Until you unlock modern scanners, research completion is the only way to gain TLups.

Types of Research:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Essence Extraction: Pick a living or dead mutant and roll a Technology check to extract it's essence. On a 14 or higher you gain 1d6+2 Shots of Mutant Essence. On a 19 or higher the Essence is of high enough quality to be of interest to an artificer. On a result that is a prime number a living subject dies or the corpse of a dead subject is destroyed. When used, mutant essence raises a combat stage of a Pokemon or Trainer by two. The combat stage raised is the highest base stat of the mutant the essence the mutant is from. If the mutant's highest base stat is HP, the essence instead functions as a Super Potion that can grant temporary HP beyond one's usual maximum. Mutant essence is known to be addictive in some cases.

Feature Use: You may make use of two features that require time undisturbed, or craft 4 things from recipe with 1 Action Point. Daily features may be used once after each mission, weekly features may be used once after every 3 missions. You can take Feature Use multiple times per Forum Turn.

Cubchoo Sale: Go door to door in some of the nicer PCNA and NPO controlled neighborhoods selling rare ice type Pokemon. Roll charm or guile. The DC is 11, but higher rolls = more profit. This action may only be completed 3 more times.

Robot Use: Once per day, Sami can deploy a robot to attempt an action for her, turning any forum turn action into a TECH roll. Although the robot is fairly good at passing for human, it's fine manipulators are not very precise and it's voice is clearly unnatural. Therefor robot actions take -4 to any action requiring complex object manipulation or peaceful conversation.

The Factions:

The World Police Special Forces (Blue): The Multinational paramilitary force to which the party belongs. You are tasked with keeping order on the island however you see fit. The WPSF are busy trying to hold major cities such as New York and London, and your operation is considered low priority training, so don't expect too much outside help from HQ.

Port Cane National Army (Black): The local government. Although they are in theory your allies, a good argument could be made that they are worse than any of the mutant factions. The people still living under their control fear their ‘Corpses and Answers’ policy of dealing with the mutants; anybody suspected of being or associating with a mutant is tortured for information and unceremoniously executed without any sort of due process. The PCNA controls all the land around your headquarters, and has agreed to allow you to operate however you wish. They were also nice enough to donate some prisoners and corpses to get you started on your research. Important leaders of the PCNA are President General Leroy Goodchild, Police Chief Vanessa Commons, and Information Chief Douglas Vanderbelt.

The New Port Order (Yellow): One half of the former Port Cane Freedom Front. The NPO is a radical group of mutant supremacists. Humans under their jurisdiction are generally treated well, but are not allowed any sort of influence whatsoever. Humans under NPO rule who attempt to get involved in Politics, Art, Journalism, Business, or Law are forced into stasis chambers or executed publicly. The NPO is lead by a congress like chamber known as the Council of Virtue.

The Kings of the Street (Green): One half of the former Port Cane Freedom Front. The KotS are a loosely organized and brutal gang. Although most KotS leadership is mutant they prey on mutants and humans alike. The KotS deal in drugs, gambling, and prostitution and despite their almost total lack of centralized leadership are likely the richest faction in all of Port Cane. KotS members will often go on violent crime sprees to destabilize their rivals or just for shits and giggles. At any given time there are 10-20 people who claim to lead the KotS, and they will not necessarily honor the agreements, laws, and treaties made by each other.

Județul Sugar (‘County of Sugar’) (Red): The local chapter of the United Counties, a powerful multinational mutant army. The United Counties are based out of Eastern Europe, and fancy themselves vampires. Only a few specific varieties of mutant are allowed in the upper ranks. They freely admit to killing and consuming humans for their rituals and feasts, but their body county is likely lower than the Street Kings or the Army. Intelligence suggests that the United Counties are here for the same reason you are; to train future soldiers and leaders in a theater of little importance. JS is controlled by a set of young zubat line mutant triplets; Count Vlad Von Streak, Earl Peter Von Streak, and Lady Monika Von Streak

Cloyster Communities (Purple Dots): Various mutant communities, some even pre-dating the population boom 18 years ago, have chosen to isolate themselves from the rest of the world in groups of 20-200. These secluded communities protect their privacy and isolation above all else; outsiders, and those who break the rules and deal with them peacefully, are killed without much fanfare.

The Map:

Map Key:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
10 = Burnout Flats: A terrible shipping neighborhood where KotS drugs are exported. The citizens are caught in the middle of a brutal gang war between two KotS subfactions, The Kings of Meth and the Voodoo Kings.
11 = Downtown Port Cane: A bustling comercial neighborhood with plenty of bars, brothels, shops, theaters, street vendors, and outdoor entertainment. The Downtown region is split between the KotS and the JS, and both sides feel it is in their best interests to keep downtown peaceful
12 = Plantation District: Sugar, Rum, and Drugs are produced at the three sprawling plantations that cover the Southeast corner of the island. The Cole and Commons Plantations are still controlled by the old families that have run them for centuries, and the Swain Plantation often changes hands between various KotS subfactions.
13 = Seawind Estates: A high class neighborhood where most of the KotS leaders live. The sub-faction controlled by Mr. Chekhov polices the streets here to keep other factions from taking their feuds and wars home with them.

101 = Port Cain Media Compoud: A film studio, TV station, and radio station all sit on this property. It is currently held and heavily fortified by the KotS faction under the control of Virgil 'Insaneon' Swain

Research:

Sadly the computer systems WPSF provided you with are not secure enough for them to risk putting their advance research data on, so the Port Cane office will have to start from scratch in the tech department. Each time a research project is complete, all trainers in the party level up and new perks, items, ect will be unlocked. Remember a new research project is made available any time an 18 or higher is rolled while researching a mutant or fully evolved Pokemon.

You may apply one successful research action towards multiple research projects, but you may not meet more than one requirement for a single research project with a single research action.

Basic Creationist Theory:
Requirement: Dissect or Vivisect the following with a DC of 15: Pokemon and/or mutants representing each of the 17 Elemental Types.
Unlocks: The ability to track legendary Pokemon in and around Port Cane & a mission to capture a legendary pokemon. [1/17] (Water)

Dr. Carlos Gonzalez's Pokemon Avatarism Device:
Requirement: Dissect or Vivisect the following with a DC 10 16: 1 Male Human (Done), 1 Female Human, 1 Pokemon from the humanshape egg group.
Unlocks: The ability to take a Pokemon form for Stealth Missions and to protect against Dungeon Induced Insanity.

Mind-Machine Interface:
Requirement: Dissect or Vivisect the following with a DC of 16: 1 Psychic Type Mutant or Pokemon, 1 Steel Type Mutant or Pokemon. Then complete three Technology Based Item Investigation actions.
Unlocks: Removes all class Prerequisites for the Upgrader class. Carlos will take the upgrader class and will be willing to apply the NeuroLink upgrade to any Pokemon or Trainer. Pokemon or Trainers with the NeuroLink upgrade gain the additional ability to use allied robots that they have LOS to as the point of origin for their psychic attacks.

Applied Life-force Theory:
Requirement: Dissect or Vivisect the following with a DC of 15: 1 mutant of the United Counties' noble caste, 1 Grass type Pokemon or mutant, 1 Dark type Pokemon or mutant.
Unlocks: Pokemon can be taught the move Mega Drain synched to one of their types for 2000py and 1 tutor point. Trainers can qualify to learn Mega Drain by spending 4000py, and the move's type will change appropriately if the trainer has Combat Expertise: Type.

Spiritual Reincarnation:
Requirement: With a DC of 15, Dissect or Vivisect the following: 1 Ghost Type Mutant, 1 Dark Type Mutant, 1 Stage two or three Ghost Type Pokemon, 1 Stage two or three Dark Type Pokemon
Unlocks: For 10000py a recently dead organic pokemon or trainer can be reincarnated as a Ghost Pokemon, perhaps retaining some abilities and memories.

Zombie Pokemon:
Requirement:
Dissect the Following with a DC of 16: 1 Pokemon killed by a physical attack, 1 Pokemon killed by a special attack, 1 Pokemon killed by poison, burn, or other status condition.
Dissect or Vivesect the following with a DC of 12: 1 Psychic type Pokemon or mutant.
Unlocks: The ability to animate Pokemon Corpses as blindly loyal minions by sacrificing the existance of ghost Pokemon.

Pokemon Aerodynamics:
Requirement: Dissect or Vivisect 3 more flying type mutants or pokemon (DC 15). [1/3]
Unlocks: +1 Sky Capability to all Pokemon with a Sky Capability. When you roll a 'Last Chance' ability for a Pokemon, you may change it to Mach Speed.

Completed Research:

Keep a close eye on this list. You will get cool perks as you complete more and more research.

1: Basic Mutation Theory (Party elevated to TL 2. Mutant Shipping Containers available for research. Mutant Essence Extraction available for research. Agent Adaptability available for research. Basic Mutation Cure avaible for research)
2: Modern Scanners (Party elevated to TL 3. Trainers may now collect trainer exp via Pokemon Ownership. The 'Scan' research action has been made available)
3: Non-Lethal Weaponry (Party gains third research level. New weapons available in armory.)
4: Mutant Essence Extraction (Party gains fourth research level. Essence Extraction action unlocked.)
5: Basic Mutation Cure (Party gains fifth research level. 1st stage mutants capable of further evolution can be cured.)
6: Mutant Shipping Containers (Party gains sixth research level. Ship Mutant action made available.)
7: Basic Afterlife Theory (Party gains seventh research level. New TMs available. New Research made available)
8: Underdog Theory (Party gains eighth research level. In the future, when genning up a Weight Class 1 Pokemon, you may add 1 point to any of it's base stats. Each trainer gains one free Underdog Maneuver of their choosing)
9: Inquiry on Dungeon Native Pokemon (Party gains ninth research level. Two new research projects and a mission unlocked.)
10: Special Armor (Party gains tenth research level. Special armor unlocked)

Missions:
The party must vote on a mission to complete for each time we meet as a group. You will get some missions before the forum turn for you to consider, debate, and prepare for, but there is a chance you might unlock more missions during the forum turn: So don't vote until the forum turn is complete.

The World Police Special Forces will provide an operating budget of 2000py for each mission completed. Other factions might offer rewards as well.

Mission names will glow in the color of the faction that is offering them. For now the PCNA has agreed to offer you two mission at a time for you to pick from. If you cozy up to other factions they might provide missions as well.

Current Missions:

Don't Rock the Boat Baby: Insaneon has somehow managed contract out the task of building boats to a Cloister Community. We should get in there and wreck the boats. This community is mostly dragon type mutants and rather dangerous. This mission is locked until you get the support of another faction to help with the raid. -Heinrich Schulze, Director of Agent Activities, WPSF Port Cane Field Office

Setting the Table: (The following is written in Llewyn's handwriting) It has come to my attention that the First Church of Kyogre needs to capture and hold the old ritual grounds Downtown. Its on the side controlled by those wicked Kings, so it will fall to you to launch an attack on one of their bases and kill a bunch of Kings to distract their security forces. I will see that the First Church takes advantage of the distraction, and that you are rewarded for your efforts. This mission is unlikely to vanish. -A friend

Wanted: The Burlap Gang: These lowlifes kidnap people and then ransom them off for money. To make matters worse they have gotten ballsy and are now taking victims from the major factions, bringing some unwanted attention to our community. We don't have a proper prison system, so unless you intend to keep them locked up yourselves, we would rather them dead than alive. The busniess of Septicslum will provide a reward upon completion of this task. This job has a 1/4th chance of vanishing each time it is not picked. -Wilt Kull, Sheriff

Night at the Museum: We got your message about possibly breaking into an NPO museum, and we are intrigued. You guys get in, deal with the guards, and steal whatever you can get your hands on. My boys will intercept any reinforcements and provide Tick-Tock's access card for the doors. We can split the loot 50/50.  This mission is unlikely to expire. -Leroy Goodchild, President General for Life, Port Cane

Placeholder: No point filling in the temporary mission. I know you are going for the boats next. This Mission will vanish if not chosen now. -Maximillion, head of the Barren Peninsula Community

Placeholder: No point filling in the temporary mission. I know you are going for the boats next. This mission will vanish if not chosen now. -Vanessa Commons, Chief of Military Police, Port Cane

Um, could we get an intro first please? Would be quite beneficial if we got an initial briefing and an introduction to the facility's staff and such? Would help us get our feet wet in the situation about the city as well.

When we start the turn (assuming each takes one action point):

- I will start by finding an area where I could leave my two Eevees to see if I can get them to breed. (Intelligence 5+ Education 3 = Modifier 4)

- While they do what they do, I will try to get some more specific information about the 2 missions posted to take back to the party (specifically, intel on the camps, capabilities known about the poison mutants, and the size of the forces building at the border). (Charm 2+ Spirit 5 = Modifier 3)

- Afterwards, I will assist in any dissections taking place (should I have the capabilities)

Intro:

You arrive by seaplane on the shore of Port Cane, and after a brief wade through the low tide waters, arrive on dry ground. You are met by a man with blond hair, shades, and a suit.

"Greetings agents. I am Heinrich Schulze, agent in charge of operations here at the new Port Cane Field Office."

Schulze. The name rings a bell. One of the top agents in the World Police Special Forces until he handed key research over to an enemy faction in exchange for a month to peacefully evacuate the besieged city of Berlin. Brass wanted to fire him, perhaps even execute him for treason, but hundreds of thousands of German refugees marched on the WPSF Grand HQ in London in his defense. Schulze was allowed to keep his job, but hasn't been trusted with important assignments since.

"You can call me Faust if you wish." The agent declares, referring to the nickname he had earned for his deal with the devil.

Faust leads you up the beach to a large stone building. "Headquarters. Used to be a Cathedral, then the local government seized it for use as an armory, and handed it over to us." he explains.

The inside of the building has a creepy sacrilegious vibe. Items one would expect to find in the headquarters of a paramilitary spy group, such as weapons and file cabinets labeled 'confidential', contrast starkly with the art on the walls that still beckons the faithful to kneel in prayer to the legendary Pokemon thought by many to exist as divine beings. "Our hosts don't have much respect for the sacred, and trust me that is the least of their sins. On that note, I don't care what you were told in training, while you serve under me your goal is to protect human life; not kill mutants nor suck the dick of the local government."

Faust frowns. "I'd just as soon conquer this whole damn island and protect everybody myself if I had the manpower, but for now we best just play along with the National Army."

"Just protecting the humans? Are we now amigo? I'm hurt." The new voice speaks with a thick Latin American accent. You turn to find yourself face to face with another WPSF Legend, Carlos 'El Caimán' Gonzalez.

A researcher famous for his brilliance, ego, bigotry, ambition, and disdain for common safety procedures; Carlos unintentionally mutated himself while trying to prove a retrovirus could have caused the mutant outbreak. Despite the changes, phyiscal and mental, mutation brought to him Carlos remain loyal to the world police and has played a part in all the major research breakthroughs made by the faction in the last 10 years.

During your time in boot camp a plague that wiped out 40% of Ireland was publicly traced back to an accident at Dr. Gonzalez's lab, and the WPSF vowed to transfer him to a 'field assignment of little importance.'

"Come. Ignore the mutant coddling softie. Let me show you el laboratorio."

Faust shakes his head as you are lead off into a sterile white room with several operating tables inside by the researcher. "They wont let me have any of my old research because they are too cheap to buy computers secure enough to store it on. Maricones de mierda de perro! But that wont keep us down... Oh no... We shall rediscover everything for ourselves, and then make breakthroughs!"

With a smirk the researcher gestures to a cell block and a freezer. "Our wonderful hosts were nice enough to donate some sujetos de prueba. That is just a start however. It would be awesome if you could bring in prisoners, corpses, and powerful pokemon for us to play with. We can't make this omelet without breaking a few mutant eggs."

You all do your best to ingore the doctor's boomerang bigotry for now, and eventually someone in the party asks about who else is working at HQ. "There are the Smith Sisters, but until somebody takes a mission that requires heavy transport, they just get to hang around and try to score dates with the locals. We might get a secretary once your work start creating enough paperwork, and if Faust gets his way and we start claiming territory, we will get some cash budgeted in to hire a local army to hold it. Other than that it is just us and the security guards the Local Army sometimes sends by to help babysit our turf."

Eventually you all get directions to your rooms, and start to settle into your new home.

(Thanks, WS. ^^^ I appreciate having an intro.)

Susan finished tying her boots on, making sure her pants hung over them and had a neat crease down the middle, then attached the skates. It was time to explore, and perhaps later on, meet her fellow rookies. The ride in the seaplane had been too loud for any conversation, and she hadn't felt like talking anyway. She'd much preferred to watch the landscape go by than trying to yell over the engines and get a headache. Standing up, she put on her hat, her glasses, her coat, and her purse, then pushed her hair back over the collar in that same fastidious order that she always did. If things weren't done properly, they weren't worth doing at all.

She exited her room and rolled down the hall at a slow pace; no need to rush about until she learned the layout of the cathedral. Besides, going slow gave her time to take in the paintings as she went. As she went, she noticed a pokeball vending machine in the middle of the hall and slid to a stop near it. I should buy a few of these. Doubtless I shall be needing to catch a few pokemon during my time here. Core and Trellis were childhood friends, but they couldn't handle everything that needed to be done on their own. Susan bought 5 pokeballs, spending $1000. (I'll update that on my own, just noting it down here for posterity.)

And while she was thinking about them, she thought it might be a good idea to have them spar. (For my first action point, I'll train my pokemon.) Once they were done 'playing,' Susan recalled them and skated over to the sterile rooms, where she inquired about the corpses available for dissection. Unlike many women - or even people in general - she was not in the least squeamish or squicked out by the idea of doing an autopsy. In fact, she was rather fascinated by it. Upon learning they had a Gligar corpse available, she requested the opportunity to dissect it. (For my second action point, I'll dissect the Gligar. That's Intelligence 5 + Education 2 / 2 = Modifier of 3.5, round up or down as necessary.)

Once she was cleaned up from the dissection, she would head out into the Tropical Sands and explore the area to get familiarized with the area around the cathedral before heading back. (For my final action point, I'll explore Tropical Sands. That's Intelligence 5 + Perception 1 / 2 = Modifier of 3. Also, is it possible to specify looking for an opportunity to make some money? If not, just go with unspecified.)

(If anyone wants to interact with me, you can always collar Susan around the vending machine, and we can assume she does all of that after some RP. ^^^)

Niko, having slept most of the flight over, grew tired of the nausea permeating from his being.  He sets his first priorities to cleaning himself, allowing Milli and Haline to stretch their legs during the process.  Afterwards, he clothes himself in a simple jean and t-shirt combo, utilizing a light wind breaker to protect against any weather that may develop.  He recalls his duo and heads out into the cathedral.

He investigates the area, looking for an area close to the base he would be allowed to safely leave his Eevees, hopefully getting them to start breeding (action point 1, Intelligence 5 + Education 3 = Modifier 4).  Having found an area (or if not, returned them to the room) he heads down to look at the mission board to see the first priorities.

Passing by the vending machine, he sees Susan.  Knowing she is one of the other rookies, he strolls up to strike conversation.  "So, what's your specialty?  I'm a breeder, and have been told I have a penchant for words.  Hopefully, I'll be able to assist in other capacities as well." (action point 2, Intelligence 5 + Education 3 = Modifier 4)

After the conversation, he heads to each of contacts for the missions to find out more information about each (action point 3, Spirit 5 + Charm 2 = Modifier 3.5).  He specifically asks about troop positions and strengths as well as their abilities.  Afterwards, he meets in the lab to assist with the dissection.

(Yes, same actions as above, just throwing more RP into it.  I suppose I will be at the machine with Susan if Tar decides to join for RPing.)

Susan looked up as she was addressed and inclined her head in greeting. "Susannah Traverse. My instructor in boot camp called me 'Rags,' but I much prefer Dr. Traverse." The vending machine rattled, dropping down five pokeballs, and she put them in her purse. "I suppose the title reveals my specialties on its own, but to be more precise I am a surgeon. I'm also adept at healing wounds while under fire, so if you or our other partners are unfortunate enough to take a bullet, I will be quite willing and able to assist your recovery."

She gave him a once-over. "I'm positive a breeder will be useful in our mission. Whether we choose to work with Faust and protect, or work with Dr. Gonzalez and destroy, we will need pokemon well-bred for combat. Welcome to the team, Mr...?" she trailed off with a hand extended to shake, leaving him an opportunity to give his name.

(Also, I forgot to mention it earlier. For the mission, I vote we do For Romanian Eyes Only since that's a one-chance-only mission. The other can wait for a bit.)
