After reading about the game on the kickstarter page i for one am not convinced it will bring anything new to the table, except multiplayer.
Who would want to play an eyecandy version of Elite?
But i hope i am wrong

Will it get an 11th hour backing? Looking good.

I played Elite back on the BBC micro, hammered it to death in fact and I would play an eye candy remake just for nostalgia. I doubt that's what it's going to be even on release.
Looking at the way multiplayer runs I'm guessing every carebear in EVE is going to be all over this.

Note this:

Pledge £20 or more
10000 backers Sold out
Reserve a digital copy of the game, plus all rewards above.

This is the option that has a higher amount sold.
It's also the cheapest option that gives a digital copy.
Project has 3 days to go and is still 100k short...
AND it's sold out. Supposed to be for the early adopters.

What can I say. Stupid for putting the limit that low. Note that this option doesn't incur any production or shipping costs either.
What I'm trying to say is... if you're making a KickStarter, at least allow people to reach the goal?

Note that the 30 pound reward is the same as the 20 pound one.
They just made the 20 pound reward a "limited offer" for those who back them first.
The remaining plebes can buy it for 30 pounds.
It's probably cheaper then the release version anyway so... yeah.

You'll also note that the limited 20 pound reward topped at 10,000 backers. The 30 pound one only has 600 backers.

There are probably 5000 people there somewhere that wanted their 20 pound reward but coudn't make it, and they don't want to pay the extra 10 quid for the same thing. That's your 100,000 pounds right there.

20 pounds is a helluva lot more than I want to pay for a potential future digital game download.

Ah well. I suppose it might still make it.

Some people either dropped their 20 quid offer or upgraded it.

Is that a new 25 quid option that has appeared?

In order to receive a bonus 500 credits at the start of the game?

I actually really don't like the sound of that, but it looks as if this thing will sneak it's nose across the line. Good luck Frontier, I hope you prove me wrong and this thing becomes a thing of great beauty (but you'll have to do it without my pledge money  ;D)

I like how even if you're paying 20-30 GBP, you're still not even getting the full game. He plans to release it in segments and charge more for the expansions. (Landing on planets is likely to be one.) Only way to get past that is to pay 90 GBP up front...

Yeah I'm just going to wait till they complete it and then buy it cheap or something. Maybe it'll be on Steam at 80% discount one day :D

It almost certainly was, but I look forward to finding out how much I feel I wasted :)
