I'm getting pretty unlucky here.

Would you be interested in an earlier save from any of the other players?  I have seasonal autosave on, and could give you any of those seasons - including Spring of 80 - which for me does NOT have undead at the start.  Of course, you'd be stuck with what I or whoever embarked with, instead of what you wanted to choose, but you might be able to enjoy the game instead of really far to much !!FFFFFFUUUNNnnn....!!

I'll think about it, saddens me that I can't do it on my own, I got pretty far that first time but I got greedy with expansion.

I feel dirty doing all this save scumming.

Luck can play a huge part in this game, especially when getting started in evil land.  I think of it as folding in a game of poker; there's no shame in knowing when to walk away, or when to run.

25 Slate, 82
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Now my militia numbers 41. I had 43, but a Forgotten beast just attacked, and has killed 2 of my dwarves so far and wounded many more. The battle is still underway. And now a weremouse attacks?
EDIT:
After almost killing one of my goats, the weremouse turned back into a dwarf and ran away.

Start at the beginning...

Winter 81

"WHATDOYOUMEAN YOU CAN"T BRING ME MORE IRON?!!!"

"I apologize for the inconvenience. But you know of the situation in the mountainhome."

"Which was why I was sent to this Armok-forsaken beach. But my miners have found no weapon's grade metal."

"Yes. It appears we made a...miscalculation."

"A miscalculation..A MISCALCULATION?!"

"We were told you could handle anything. I should say, you told us you could handle anything."

"I didn't expect you were going to strip me naked and send me over the falls riding a plump helmet roast."

"There are other options."

"..."

"There is weapons grade metal beneath our feet. And you know it."

"We are not ready for that. We are not ready and we won't be ready for another year."

"Then you will have to think of something else."

"As always I appreciate the crown's wisdom."

"Til next year."

"Yes. Until next year."

Start at the beginning...

21st Granite 82

Snapshot

102 Dwarves. 13 Children. More children coming of age than babies being born. That's a move in the right direction. I'm not sure why they didn't make me a barony. But I am thankful.

We have 20 dwarves in the militia and we are currently putting together the kit for 10 more.

We have been busy creating wealth. So I am expecting more visitors soon.

We are setting up two entrances each (read traps) for building destroyers that may come from the surface or any of the caverns.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We expanded our farm workshop area and added a soap assembly line. Someday I'll have to figure out if we are actually getting milk and/or wool. Mostly it looks like the farm workers just sit around drinking.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We are also expanding our operations down near the magma sea.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Oh. And we filled our first coffin recently.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

But we're way ahead in the killing game.

27th Slate 82

The ocean thawed.

Recently one of our haulers created a masterpiece hatch cover and named it Kilrudstin..."Bronzestrife."

It is troublesome when even the haulers understand our plight.

Four more children have come of age with the continuing drop in birthrate. While it is good to have more beards, I think the foul temper of this place is putting people off more than just their food.

 Start at the beginning...

6th Felsite 82

Apparently I pissed off the emissary.

42 more immigrants including more than 10 children.

It's just as well. We have plenty of food and I think I know what to do about the ocean.

I continue to enjoy reading everyone's adventures!  It's really interesting to hear how this fort's changed your play, Varnifane.  Metruption, I never mentioned that I really appreciate your dorfing of me as one of your civ's leaders  8).  Every hateful slur's taken as praise and respect  ;D

Here's another update from me.... Things are currently feeling like a bit of a chess game with me in a somewhat weaker position than my opponent.

Thanks Imp.

What do you (pl) think about dwarfing each other in each others forts?

I have a couple of plot lines in mind It would help me if I had more personalities to play with.

So who do you want to be in Bendinked?

I'll put up a proper update tomorrow. It's late here in California and I'm not feeling screenshottish.

But currently it is 26th Sandstone 82

  • We had our first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth goblin ambushes.
  • The elves and the humans both got their respective caravans overrun.
  • I had a ranger try to fight off one of the ambushes by himself(or herself I can never tell), get shot in the head with an iron bolt, get knocked unconscious, and fall into a cage trap...saving his (or her) life.
  • We lost our first dwarves.
  • I almost had a tantrum spiral because I locked the dwarves inside and their friend's corpse outside. We'll see what happens once I appoint a captain of the guard, or a hammerer shows up. I imagine it'll start up again.
  • We have 172 dwarves.
  • Somehow I accidentally made cheese. No idea how. I watch the workshops for a season and no one ever goes to them.
  • And I have started my first (of four I think) megaprojects.

How would you like to be the Cheese Master?

Since farm jobs are a mystery and, while I think I know, I haven't been able to prove where cheese comes from.

There might be a lot of yelling involved...

Do you have a preferred personality?
