Star Wars nerds scare me. I'm not sure if this will make them scarier or more hilarious.
THe former to disney and the latter to everyone else, I'd bet.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

I'm calling it now. If there's a Star Wars part in a Kingdom Hearts game then the clash of emo teens against Star Wars nerds will be the funniest fandom conflict ever.

Does this mean that Princess Leia is a Disney Princess now? Probably, but I'm just glad I'm not a Star Wars fan and that I don't give a damn about Disney. That way I don't have to be sad or upset at this, unlike the ex-marine who works for my landlord and happens to be the biggest Star Wars nerd I've ever met - in both dedication to the fandom and actual size. I don't know how he'll feel once he hears the news.

Royalty without ever really ruling anything onscreen? Check.
Locked up by an evil relative? Check.
Rescued by wholesome yet daring group of companions with lovable sidekicks? Check.

Eh, close enough.  :P

I'm more afraid of bronies than Star Wars nerds, so more hilarious.

Here you all are ignoring the Trekkies. They invented slashfics.

Note that I'm still a happy fan of ToS, even if I don't write Kirk/Spock romances.

Huh? I'm pretty sure slashfic is as old as language, that homosexual pairings of previously known characters from other stories were told around some of the very first camp fires.

The target audience is going to be kids, like the prequels.  That's pretty much a given.
You don't know that.

They just shelled $4 billion out for this title.  They want a return on that investment.  Movie sales will not earn them a sufficient return.  The way they are going to get a return on that investment is by selling toys and video games.  The best market for these will be children.  Therefore their target audience will be children.

You severely underestimate the amount of adult and teenage fans.

You severely underestimate the amount of adult and teenage fans.

And they will still buy toys and games if the movies are targeted at children.  But it's the child market that needs to be taught the wonders of consumerism through a new series.

By way of illustration let me offer a parallel: this is exactly what happened with the prequels.

You'd think a self-proclaimed brony would recognize that even products directed at children can be big hits with older audiences.
