Episode 7 will come out in 2015.

Well it turns out that the star wars brand was able to sink lower.

As was mentioned in the other thread, this opens up Star Wars for crossovers in the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Which will be... interesting! Force powers come not from bugs in your bloodstream, but from the darkness or light in your heart.

But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I dunno, it might be an improvement.

My theory is Lucas needs a bit more money to build his island that floats out in the middle of the Pacific. And no, you can't visit it or live on it.

Either that or he's looking to make his escape from Earth.

Since when was George Lucas an objectivist?

I'm honestly optimistic. Looking forward to what Disney can do with Industrial Light & Magic. This also potentially opens up Disney owning The Dig, Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle.

It could also kill the extended universe, so good news for everybody!

Also, Episode 7 would run into the EU. Yay for conflicting canons. ::)

Which is pretty much exactly what the Force was before anyway. (Though I subscribe to the idea that midichlorians are just a Force-sensitive species of microbial life that have nothing to do with generating it, only having their presence used as a metric for how in tune with the Force a person is.)

I'm curious how the heck they're going to handle the actors being unable to portray the characters due to age and such.  Getting new actors is only going to incite new hatred...

I really don't know what to think about this at all.  On one hand, I was very disappointed with Episodes 1-3, so having Star Wars in new hands might not be a bad thing.  On the other, Disney apparently plans to "make a movie every 2 to 3 years" after the new trilogy, which sounds like they're already planning to bleed it dry.  And there's also the fact that I'm not a fan of a lot of EU stuff, such as the Yuuzhan Vong.  Well, maybe they'll just make movies about the parts I like.  :)

Some stuff about Thrawn would be very nice...

The target audience is going to be kids, like the prequels.  That's pretty much a given.  So a whole lot of the EU is out the window as it's no good for the target audience.  It's going to be the retcon to end all retcons.

My god... What. What if they make it animated, like the "clone wars" movie/show...

Yeah, that or farther ahead. Admiral Daala as the main villain, or maybe even the whole cloned emperor storyline.

I actually like the extended universe up until the yuuzhan vong who I think are really just not Star Wars to me though I did learn a bit to much about them anyway because they are interesting in their own way.
