Oh look, I have a steam account.
Might as well chalk it up to Pathos.
As this point we might as well invoke interpretive dance and call it a day.

Here's mine, I think!

Yes, it has an aquifer.  But, I can get around it with one man!  I think.  I've done it before, you just need a good-sized cliff.

Umm.. all is not well.  My hermit is miserable, because he has no office.  I'm... going to get rid of that, if you don't mid.
What I did didn't work... I... don't like that.  Nobles are unnecessary, I'm just going to get rid off all of them for gobbos.  Except the king and all.

Just remove the 'requirements' and your complaints are solved.  You need some nobles so your hermit can fight.

Yeah, I did, but it isn't working.  I'm considering regenning the world.
By the way, I suggest using DFHack to kill all the other starters, and then using it to make your hermit happy again, so you won't start out with a disadvantage.  It's what I did, I think it fixed the problem with the nobles too.

I'll just consider him eccentric.
Oh, would anyone be interested in me writing what's happening with my Gobbo, like a let's play, in another thread?  Or should I hold off until the end of this thread?

I'm thinking I should change the count to 1-5 years rather than 10 (opinions?).  And it wouldn't be till the end of the thread, just when the hermits meet up.  See proof below:

Quote
5) Play until the 10th year has been reached, then post in the thread that you have reached that point.  Probably want to create a journal in a word document, due to you having to wait until the everyone has signed in, and then start sharing stores.  Minor exaggerations are allowed and details can be left out to simulate loss of memory.

I have my hermit doing just fine.  He wound up being only Long-term acquaintance rather than friend to all of the others, so he was unaffected.  Learned a little bit about the evil biome as well. :P

Ah... yeah.  I couldn't do an evil biome, much of my strategy is going to involve above ground farming/gathering.  My Goblin is an Herbalist.  I figure it gives him a backstory: He doesn't like the other Goblins' warlike ways, and so fled to the wilderness to avoid them.

Evil biomes are not a requirement...

I think posting a backstory would be allowed, as long as you don't go into detail about the fortress besides the initial arrival.

Yeah, you said so, I was just trying to justify myself so I didn't seem like a lesser dwarf...
And that was my backstory.  I would like to see other people's though!

Well, I've chosen the embakr too. Mirthful mountain with tower and all races around.
--Here was the picture of location, but actually I changed my mind --

Will strike the earth later.

EDIT:
Oh, just to clearify.
Should I gen the world with raws from first post, or vanilla counts too? (I forgot to get those raws)
Is it ok for dwarf to set defensive walls at the surface, or should I stick with strictly underground constructions?
Is it ok for hermit to tame pets into his own small army?

If you're playing dwarf, the basic raws should be fine. There will be slightly differences about the genned civ, but as seen, the result is the same. And I think taming is ok (why not), I think it fits with an hermit (living alone, away from civ, but "friendly" with nature).

Also, don't forget to remove [NO_EAT] and [NO_DRINK] in creature standard. Forgot that, and I need to restart now.

Edit : For some odd reasons, gob civ tend to be smaller with eating and drinking, and don't get anvil.
And I randomed a nice group name : The Demon of Hermits.

Eh? Only Goblins have those tags (also BC, grimeling and nightwing, but they are out of question), while I'm with dwarf hermit.

EDIT:
Oh. I regenned with raws from first post, my precious location now is neither good nor in necromants access. Sigh  :(

EDIT2:
I changed my mind into this:

Expect the endless fight with undead hordes. Or quick death.
I guess I won't assign any roles before embark and stay with that dwarf who survives the first minutes.

Also, how to get rid of the other 6 in an interesting way.

I am probably going to just drop obsidian upon them using DFhack...

The world I have discovered:
http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=7109

If we are using this world, I already found my Fun embark site:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Quick questions:
1- is see caves on? You can get through aquifers with caves.
2- sorry I haven't checked on the link, but is there a save there? Mac users have to be a bit picky I'm afraid.

1- No. But that won't affect world-gen, i think.
2- No, but there is the file that contains the world-gen info.

2)You can only build underground, but you can carve out the ground.
3)Yes
