So, Tracy, you, Kelli, and Lucus are going to go clear the store just south of the church since that's our next spot to hit.
Wouldn't it make more sense to go to the church first, then clear the store?
Well it might, except that A) I don't like the look of this place, and B) I avoid setting foot on hallowed ground whenever I can.
I knew it.
Eh, whatever, let's just go.
8:00 AMHey, what's this? It's the sandwich I made for lunch yesterday then completely forgot about, well I'm sure it's still good for breakfast anyway.
Can I have a sandwich too?
Sure, but you're having one of the suspicious ready made ones we picked up at the store.
Kristopher and Nichole ate 2 small meals.9:00 AM(so the game bugs out a little when attacking this store, I clearly gave the team a handgun and bolt action rifle along with ammo for both, but apparently it decided otherwise because...)
Kelli, Tracy, and Lucus assaulted the location.Ok, time to charge these fuckers.
Shouldn't we like... try to pick a few off from a distance first? I mean we brought these guns along, why not use them right?
Guns? All I see are two blunt objects and the pieces of metal they want to use to avoid a good fight, now charge!
They didn't have any ranged weapons, so they moved in for some close combat around the perimeter, killing four of them, there were no more zombies outside. Then started looking through the windows.Ok... so I don't see anything inside the store, do you think?
Wait, I see one, OI YOU, GOOP FOR BRAINS, STAY RIGHT THERE, WE'LL BE BACK. Come on guys, let's go get the others and bust this place up.
10:00 AM
The team returns from their assault on the store. We're back... so where's Kristopher?
He's in management office, "doing science", he said he didn't want to be disturbed.
Meh, I could use a break, I say give him some time.
11:AMGENTLEMEN... and ladies... BEHOLD!
It's another flashlight...
Not just any flashlight! It's an INTENSE flashlight, that shines with a light of a strength that has never before been seen by me!
Kristopher has created an intense flashlight, it's now much better at spotting zombies. (This one actually is a hell of a lot better at spotting zombies, it went from 1 star in spotting to 4 stars, which considering we haven't found any binoculars or anything yet, makes it pretty useful)
Eh sure, whatever, let's just go already.
So I start moving us to the store when I notice a couple of things about our load...
So the first thing I notice is that our food supplies are starting to get low. We've actually managed to burn through them pretty fast, zombie survivors are apparently pretty hungry bastards, and we're now down to eight snacks, one small meal, and ten cooking ingredients (I don't know how many meals we can make out of these, but I guess at least three or four). The upside is that we've eaten ourselves lighter, the downside is that we manage to pick up some extra weight, and still can't take everything we want to bring with us in one trip.
But the situation still seems to be going pretty well, and hopefully the store will give us more food in our bellies.
Two hours later...
1:00 PM
The team breaks into the store by way of a window leading to the aisles. There's no zombies in the aisles but there seems to be a half dozen, maybe more shambling around the building. This looks like it could be a tough fight, stay focused team.
2:00 PM
In the aisles they find a few odds and ends lying around, including a small meal that promptly disappears into someone's belly along with two of the snacks we brought with us. It doesn't take long for zombies to come at us, and the fight begins.
Kelli whacked two zombies in the head with a baseball bat, Lucus shot a zombie's head with a recoilless handgun, Tracy shot three zombies with a bolt action rifle, and Kristopher smashed one zombie's head with a baseball bat.
We got them all.Ok, so I think I see one or two zombies out there, but I don't want them disturbing us, so I think we're going for the same thing we did at the factory. Kelli, you and Lucus go patrol and take care of them, Nichole, you and me are clearing out these corpses, Tracy, you search the place while we're at it.
Things go pretty similar to the way the factory clearing went, Lucus and Kelli on find one zombie, so I send Lucus to help Tracy search the place. The difference is that this place happens to be tiny, there's not a lot of ground to cover and by 4:00 PM, the entire place is cleared of both corpses and rooms to search.
4:00 PMSo I guess that's all. What have we got?
We found a bunch more cooking ingredients, a whole bunch of booze for some reason. There's the ammo you guys found off the corpses, some painkillers, a few tools... Oh and stereo, go figure.
Oooh, oh, we could play my Rick Astley CD.
Just when I think my opinion of you can't get any lower...
I keep it on me at all times, it's like my #1 most precious possession.
Let me just hold onto that for er... safe keeping.
Ok guys, time for you guys to go back to the factory and get our stuff, it's me and Nichole keeping an eye on this place again.
6:00 PMSo far this update has looked like it would be rather boring. The team gets to the factory and breaks in without any problems, and it's looking like everything is going to go smoothly with absolutely nothing of interest happening. Then something completely surprising happens.
What's that sound?
I... don't know, it sounds like...
Squeaking?
It's our first random event!
Unfortunately for you guys I don't think it's going to be convenient to pick out what options to take, the game doesn't exactly give me the option to save the game and exit when one of these comes up, and minimising the thing, and asking your opinion would just be way too awkward considering I'm not likely to get a reply for at least ten hours or so. So I think I'm probably just going to have to make my own decisions in these cases. Fortunately this one seems to be a no brainer, we're in a warehouse full of tools, and she has weapons, ones we'd probably want. So I guess we're going to trade.
For this exchange I think it'd be appropriate for her to have a picture, unfortunately she doesn't come with one, so I guess I'll just have to make my own using my mediocre GIMP skills.
...
Hello? Is anyone here?
Ok, who are you? And why do you look like Queen Elizabeth?
My husband was just looking to do some renovations in our house but we just don't have the right tools! So I thought I'd just come on by here and buy some from the hardware store, I brought along some things from the shed to trade in.
That answers neither of my questions.
I think I see a shotgun in that cart... I want it.
Guys... I think this lady might be kind of senile, and frankly we should take her offer, we've got tons of tools lying around that we don't really want, so what's the harm in seeing what we can get from her.
So fleece the senile old lady for her junk, works for me. *ahem* Hey old timer, I happen to have this nice bottle of gin here for you if you'd just give me that shotgun I see there.
Oh, you mean the old Winchester? It does make the most delightful bang when you pull the trigger.
So... Will you let me have it?
Of course dear, what kind of woman would I be to let someone like you go around at night without a good boomstick, in fact, why don't you just take four of them just to be safe.
Oh wow, ok, yeah I'm ok with that.
Ermm, why don't you take a look around and see what catches your eye.
Oh my, you do have quite a selection don't you? I suppose I'll just take a few of these, and this... and this chess set looks good, and oh my, what's this?
... It's a box full of butter knives?
But these are sterling silver antiques my dear, they're worth a fortune, I couldn't possibly take more than ten of them. Also some of these carving knives over here.
Are those valuable antiques too?
No, but I do go through so many of them. Tell you what, for all of these why don't I just empty out the trolley and you can just take it all.
WHOOAAA!
HOLY CRAP!
Are those... Kalashnikov's?
The AK-47's? Just the cheap Chinese versions I'm afraid, anyway, I'm sure you'll be able to sell these off for a decent price somewhere.
... Where did you get all this stuff?
A gentleman never asks and a lady never tells my dear, now I should really get going now, good day!
The old lady went squeaking off into the sunset leaving us with 3 automatic rifles, 4 baseball bats, 2 bolt action rifles, 5 cricket bats, 2 golf clubs, 4 handguns, 5 machetes, a pair of brass knuckles, 4 semi-automatic rifles, 4 shotguns, 3 silenced handguns, and a switchblade....
...
... You know, she didn't actually give us any ammo for this stuff, do you suppose if we went after her we could trade for some?
What? And be forced to trade of the last of our priceless butter knife collection? No, I think maybe we shouldn't push our luck... Also I have no idea how we're going to carry all this stuff.
The team gets ready to head back to the store. This is what I wind up bringing along. I leave the baseball bats and such because it turns out that machetes are really awesome close combat weapons, they're both lightweight and pretty effective, having three stars in assault and close combat.
8:00 PMOk... so let me get this straight, I send you out to retrieve some gear we left behind, and you come back armed to the teeth?
Pretty much.
I... I am honestly speechless.
End of Update 5.
