The iron beast rose from the pit, rearing an old rusted face towards the sky. It Bellowed out an array of weapons, mostly traditional kinetic weapons. There was a crack in the distance, and a large cord shuddered and added to the wasted terrain of the city. The men in the city center saw it as a sign, that maybe even their titanic homeworld must fall, to the cruel unforgiving forces of these invaders. Several platoons retreated away from this meager base, in an attempt to hide from the coming storm. And it was a storm most foul indeed. In the littered bay, a few of the last transport ships made a futile effort to run away, protected by an old dreadnaught. The strike force of the invaders sent to deal with them was delayed, sustaining a single loss, before annihilating the venerable Warship. The boats escaped, but were doomed either way. Then came the earthshaking forces of the invader's ground army. The few soldiers that were scattered through the city mounted a old fashioned defensive line against them. This, like all other attempts, failed to stop them. In the sky above the city, the remains of this mighty people's air forces either fled, or died, futilely opposing their foe with weapons of a long gone era. Lucas wandered through, and saw the land before him as it truly was. It was the birthplace of a mighty starfaring race. It was the birthplace of mankind. Earth had fallen, and all of its defenders slain in its name.
===
"We never knew what happened to Earth. No one even knew where it was. How could one of the mightiest spacefaring races there is lose track of their own homeworld? Some think it fell, either to the peoples living there, or to some other threat. I doubt we'll ever truly learn what happened, to be honest. If it indeed fell, I think it would just be to depressing to hear, really..."Coyote spoke this with a distinct sense of sadness, as he gazed out into the sky.
"Yeah. I sometimes considered killing myself, back home. I just couldn't stand seeing all these great peoples, and everything they stood for, destroyed."
((I got a bit grimdark here, didn't I?))

Andre turns his head towards the Anarchist, curiously.
Do you know her?

"Um. Yeah, I can see how that could be depressing."

One of Phyliss's ghosts. She looks like Camille for whatever reason. And rants about freedom. And keeps trying to blow me up.

The Anarchist demonstrates by throwing a bomb at Kogasa!Marie. It explodes. She's unaffected, of course.

Who's Phyllis? And to a lesser degree, Camille?

((Since Andre could've been summoned from quite a while ago, I'm a little tempted to have him show up at Marie's little outpost, after this little adventure's over.))

((BUT THEN I WOULD HAVE TO ACTUALLY USE THOSE CHARACTERS ARGH.

:P ))

Phyliss is a ghost with a giant army of other ghosts. Camille is a friend.

((Why do you think I want to send him there?))
Ah. Well, anyway, just stand near the fortress's walls, then we've got a way in.

I feel like I'm missing something here. Something obvious. How would that help?

She throws explosives at you, so just stand by the walls, let her blast them.

Ah.

Good plan, assuming our friends aren't right on the other side. Which they probably aren't, but...

Good point... There's always the head-on approach, I suppose, it's not like either of us can actually get hurt.

Kogasa!Marie dismisses her form and floats inside the fortress. Being invisible now, she does two things:
First, look for where her companions are being held, and how one might get to them. Knowing how many guards are along the way is also a plus.
Second, learn the bug language (forgot the name) from any sleeping bugs. They'll have some pretty strange dreams, that's for sure.

The building's huge. It's also built with a confusing, winding style that's nothing like the architecture of the Daetrlunaudkis. The bugs must have assembled it. Finding the stolen people would be difficult. As to guards, it's hard to get a good count. They move fast and all look roughly the same. Also, the Reethokern don't quite have a language. They'll probably speak a vowel-less version of whatever language their opponent has.

Marie settles for vowel-less Kestvoshorik, then, seeing as she's gotten at least passable at that language, even if she's far from fluent and sounds terrible-you learn quite fast when you directly interface into someone's mind. And she visualizes a form that the bugs might find familiar...

In the meantime, she keeps searching because why not? In particular, she checks to see if her friends are near the wall they were going to blow up.

Marie returns to Andre, still invisible.

Not sure where they are, but they're nowhere near the wall. We can blow it to smithereens.
