The iron beast rose from the pit, rearing an old rusted face towards the sky. It Bellowed out an array of weapons, mostly traditional kinetic weapons. There was a crack in the distance, and a large cord shuddered and added to the wasted terrain of the city. The men in the city center saw it as a sign, that maybe even their titanic homeworld must fall, to the cruel unforgiving forces of these invaders. Several platoons retreated away from this meager base, in an attempt to hide from the coming storm. And it was a storm most foul indeed. In the littered bay, a few of the last transport ships made a futile effort to run away, protected by an old dreadnaught. The strike force of the invaders sent to deal with them was delayed, sustaining a single loss, before annihilating the venerable Warship. The boats escaped, but were doomed either way. Then came the earthshaking forces of the invader's ground army. The few soldiers that were scattered through the city mounted a old fashioned defensive line against them. This, like all other attempts, failed to stop them. In the sky above the city, the remains of this mighty people's air forces either fled, or died, futilely opposing their foe with weapons of a long gone era. Lucas wandered through, and saw the land before him as it truly was. It was the birthplace of a mighty starfaring race. It was the birthplace of mankind. Earth had fallen, and all of its defenders slain in its name.

"We never knew what happened to Earth. No one even knew where it was. How could one of the mightiest spacefaring races there is lose track of their own homeworld? Some think it fell, either to the peoples living there, or to some other threat. I doubt we'll ever truly learn what happened, to be honest. If it indeed fell, I think it would just be to depressing to hear, really..."Coyote spoke this with a distinct sense of sadness, as he gazed out into the sky.
"Yeah. I sometimes considered killing myself, back home. I just couldn't stand seeing all these great peoples, and everything they stood for, destroyed."
((I got a bit grimdark here, didn't I?))
