She doesn't seem to notice him following, and she continues on, the urge to obey overruling survival. Faintly in the distance, a blue flame would spark among the shadows..

Barth keeps walking behind Ke, glad he decided to stay behind instead of leaving with the "masks" group. The snakegirl really shouldn't be walking around alone, but he doubted his opinion had much of an effect on her.

Then, she comes to a halt, staring at a pool of liquid at the base of a dark, gnarled tree.

Bartholomew narrows his eyes for a moment before his body springs into action; one of his arms wraps around Ke's midsection and the other whips out his loyal hatchet, bringing the blunt side of the black iron head upon the hand. Hard.

"Damn it!" he cursed under his breath. In these moments, a bit more of muscle could probably help.
