Every time you perform a potentially risky action that corresponds to a skill, you have a chance to gain experience from it based on your roll and modifiers.
Roll | Base Experience |
1-2 | +0 |
3-4 | +1 |
5-6 | +2 |
Bonuses to a roll are then applied as penalties to this base experience gain, and vice versa. Bonuses and penalties to a roll opposing yours are also applied as though they were penalties or bonuses to your own roll, respectively.
It is not possible to lose experience from a particularly bonus-filled action.
Rolls | Exp Gained |
[5] | +2 [2 base] |
[5+1] | +1 [2-1] |
[6+2] vs [3+3] | +1 [2-2+3] |
[4-1] vs [6-4] | +0 [1+1-4=0] |
Experience gained is applied to the skill that earned it; in the case of multischool efforts, experience division may be more complicated, but will usually go to the primary school involved. When enough experience is earned, the skill's level increases.
