It follows it very closely. The term candy is a meme. A meme is a piece of information that passes through a group like a gene. It fits.

I think a better description of meme is 'virus'. A viral idea that somehow clamps into the mind and get pumped out to others.

And yes this circus analogy is most surely a meme.

Not too bad, I guess. I need to read more Dawkins.

IMO, Adamantine shouldn't be a spoiler, but HFS should be. In fact, we should go out of our way to convince newbies that mining Adamantine is perfectly safe, to ensure as much fun as possible.

Up until the point where it isn't a meme.

You know what the internet defines as a meme is different right?

Internet memes are basically inside jokes with a very large "inside".

Yes, and "circus" and "cotton candy" are both most definitely memes, like Homestuck's stairs or got tigers.

1. It's not a joke, or an inside joke. It's a colloquial term.
2. That's also not what a meme is.

It's a joke, colloquial term, and a meme. The definition is broader than you think.

So "piping hot" is a meme. Got it.

Hmm... if enough people believe that a meme is something which a meme is not, and find it useful to identify the not-meme as a meme so much so that this not-meme meaning of the term meme becomes dominant...  is that a meme?

(Also, on a related (unrelated to the topic at hand) note, I personally seek to restore "decimation" to its originally intended meaning (at least in quantity, if not to full-on purpose).  I believe that what I need to do is 'memetically engineer' the term so that it out-competes its inferior modern usurper-strain...  But something tells me that I should not be satisfied with merely decimating the latter's proportion of infiltration, for I need much more than a 10% eradication of the Young Pretender meaning to the term!!!)
