Which is better: Hyperinflated papers with pictures of rocks, or a large wheel-shaped rock sitting in the ocean known for (probably among other things) having been dropped in the ocean accidentally from a canoe whch may or may not have eroded?
It probably erodes more slowly than the value of most currencies.

If you go down there and get the rock, do you invalidate the current ownership? Or are you required to return it?

The only important thing (according to wikipedia) is that everyone knows who owns the rai. Not who actually has it or even if its reachable by either the owner or the interested parties.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.
