They're used in newspapers to tell the reader that word has been changed slightly to make more sense, or in this case block out a word with another word instead of using unprofessional starring.

As far as I know, all brackets are square.

He would appear to be a Brit. Non-square brackets are parenthesis.

When asked how you'd be able to see, he said that your first eye would have healed by then.

He would appear to be a Brit.
This is, in fact, doubly false.

[], {}, (), ⟨ ⟩, <>  "From the top: brackets, braces [or curly brackets], parentheses, angle brackets/chevrons, and inequality signs."

Wikipedia answers many questions. I think that's most of the standard surrounding thingies. Barring / / and _ _ and * * for /italics/, _underlining_, and *bold* in situations where the formatting doesn't actually exist. As deraily as deraily can get, but I kinda' wonder what else is commonly used...

Pretty sure Skyrunner is South Korean.

I'm guessing Korean doesn't use square brackets that often, if at all.

I suppose there is more than one Korean, but he/she probably is Kim Jong-un.

I forgot that [] meant an edit. xD

[] are square brackets, {} curly brackets to me.

Also, Kim's a [good] [friend]. Really.
He even gifts us bits of shrapnel every once in a while.

Or at least he tries, but he accidentally sends the shrapnel to Japan instead.

Best Korea is best at everything except aiming.

There is precedent for using rocks as currency.
Quote
In one instance, a rai being transported by canoe was accidentally dropped and sank to the sea floor. Although it was never seen again, everyone agreed that the rai must still be there, so it continued to be transacted as genuine currency.

Which is better: Hyperinflated papers with pictures of rocks, or a large wheel-shaped rock sitting in the ocean known for (probably among other things) having been dropped in the ocean accidentally from a canoe whch may or may not have eroded?
