He had a hunch this might work.

He gestured to Iris.
"Heal her, please."
The fae woman nodded and gestured to Iris, who glowed a faint white.

Alan turns around. Did somebody just shout at him?

Unfortunately he failed to stop running before turning around and nearly fell on the floor because of it. As he regains composure he spots ha pale-skinned person in a straightjacket who he didn't notice earlier. What the hell, brain?

Richard calls for someone to help.
"Bartholomew! Allan! Brecan! Someone! There's something wrong with Iris!"

Richard was genuinely worried for Iris. He didn't want to see her, or any of his friends for that matter, affected by something he could do nothing about. This was one of those times.

And that part about being able to do nothing? It scared him.
