Trying to get somebody alone?
« on: October 11, 2012, 05:50:25 pm »

So, it seems I'll be making my first topic here. Simply, there's a girl I know who I quite like, who admitted to me last year that they had liked me at one point and often made remarks to that effect. Before now, I've been too shy to actually talk to her about it, especially considering she's always in a group with friends. The main question here being; How do I go about getting her into a private conversation?
Hopefully, you nice folk at Bay12 can help me out here.

Literally, just ask her for a little private talk. Take her off to the side somewhere public-ish (like a party, or the school hallway, or something), so she doesn't get creeped out or something.

But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

You could do up a phony ransom note, telling her you have her [INSERT SENTIMENTAL STUFFED TOY HERE] captive and she will never see it again unless she shows up at [NEARBY PUBLIC PLACE] alone and with fifty cents in cash. Then do a lot of quick explaining. And try not to get arrested.

...On second thoughts don't do that. Do what Kaijyuu said, or if that's too stressful/weird, observe her movement patterns over the space of about a week and decide upon a good ambush location where you can jump out and talk to her alone.
...Wait, that's not a good idea either. :-\ B-but that's what I actually did! Damnit, I'm bad at this.

Cage traps.

Alternatively, go up to her, start talking, and begin inching away from her group before you get critically embarrassed.

Some more tips:
1.) Make sure there are others nearby. Getting asked out is a stressful situation and it helps if she's not all alone.
2.) For the same reason, avoid blocking doors or backing her into walls.

"Quickly, come with me!"

[their response]

"No time to explain, hurry!"

Then whisk them away to some secluded location.

Step 3: ???
Step 4: Make out time.

But before you do make sure a giant crab grabs you, and make sure she gets a plasma launcher thing. Make sure this happens -after- you say no time to explain.

Wasn't that the plot of an Australian Pepsi advertisement on television a while back? ??? Some guy chatting to this girl on the beach, then suddenly there's a commotion out in the water as someone's being attacked by a giant squid or something.
He apologizes to her, then runs off, dives into the water and rescues them. She is suitably impressed as he carries them off to receive medical attention.
Then the scene jumps to show the protagonist, the victim and a guy in a sea monster costume sharing a drink of Pepsi and laughing at a job well done. Sounds like a plan! :D

Actually I was referenceing the game "There's no time to explain" where the future protagonist gets grabbed by a giant crab and the past protagonist has to save the future one. Who then get's nearly devoured by a giant shark, there's no time to explain.

Screw private conversation, act suave and charming in front of her and all her friends (assuming they are all female) and charm the lot of them.
It'll make you look confident more desirable as a result!

Or...it will most likely get you into trouble.  :P

Anyway I suppose the best course of action is to invite her to something that requires the two of you to be alone. I don't know, is asking someone to a movie cheesy at this point? So long as it's smooth, asking for some personal time just like that seems a lil forceful.

I'm probably not the best source of advice though.

ah youth, check your local hardware stores. You should be able to buy some ether, that always did the trick for me.

Well I'm not great on this subject, but do have any classes together? If so walk with her to them? Sorry I haven't been in this situation much since I walk to the library with my person most days.
