better yet get the droid to do it

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.

The droid needs to help me first.

But making easy money we could probably sell wood.
Get the droid to cut down trees around our camp, we should do it anyway so the plants can't sneak up on us and we may as well sell the spare wood.

Or we could gather dead murderous vines and sell them. And if we make enemies we can use that to kill them by selling live murderous vines instead.

If our researcher Zalud can become a xenobotanist that would be awesome :D

Perfect plan. actually, if we can breed them to be pets that would be awesome.

Pet murderous vines?
Yea I kinda don't wanna get arrested for mass murder thanks.
But we should check if they are edible.

Aww, c'mon! I'd name it and everything! How would we get arrested for mass murder anyway? There's no masses to murder.

Uhm if we are selling a vine that kills its owner?
We sell stuff by sending off the planet to the population centers.

Just some things you should know

1. Fire is extremely inefficient at cutting down plants. For one, most plants are composed mostly of water, and as such, most forest fires only damage the undergrowth. I mean, there's a reason why flamethrowers are regularly used to clean pests out of trees. No reason to be afraid of forest fires, and no reason to use flamethrowers for vegetation control.

2. Lasers are also incredibly inefficient against plants. I'm suprised the droid managed to use a laser to cut the vines, because lasers rely on vapourization, and water takes a lot of energy to evaporate. Also, because it can cut several vines doesn't mean it can cut down a 2-3 m diameter tree.

3. The vines don't appear to be intelligent. They just got a basic instinct. Ie, grow around something, contract when tension rises, then feed on the corpse. Training them as a pet is going to be hard, if not impossible.

4. Jungles have tendency to have daily, evening rains. Due to the high evaporation , humidity is always high, and as soon as the temperature drops, most of said water comes down. Settling in a riverbed is therefore a bad idea. Settling near the riverbed seems like a good idea though. Fresh water+ Hydropower, some distance from trees.

5. It's a Jungle planet, I don't think there's such a thing as noncovered ground. Plants are capable of grinding rock into dust quite fast, especially the crushing vines.

A human can always dream of his/her snuggly vineplant.

get em while they are small and use chemicals or genetic engineering to stunt their growth :D

I support this. Or genetic engineering. We might actually be able to do this (eventually). :D
