new? idea for vampire storage
« on: September 24, 2012, 07:53:57 am »

Why not make a burrow for the vampire near the enterance of the fort so he can fight stuff, and only put beds of useless migrants in that burrow?
That keeps them from slowing down, yet makes them useful.

I doubt vamp respect burrows when on breaks. You'd still have to isolate him and maybe drop migrants in. Also, I've heard it's not lack of blood that slows them down, but lack of alcohol.

Actually, they do if they're civilians.
Though drinking blood doesn't prevent alcohol withdrawal no matter what Toady claims.
I've been using this as population control. Also remember that during alert states they are assigned to the same burrow all other civilians do.

But others might prefer to have the mess contained behind windows to avoid tracking blood all over the their nice, color coordinated floor patterns. Kind of the Ozzy Osborne vs. Martha Stewart debate.

That keeps them from slowing down, yet makes them useful.
Wouldn't it be more efficient to turn those useless migrants into quasi-unacceptable vampire guards?

I don't have enough water for that, just one pond in a cavern.

I didn't see anything to help with a semi-scorching biome.

So make them a squad of one at that time.

No, no, any help is welcome, but I think the only pool is about 25 tiles in size, and I'd like to make an obsidian trap.
