Finland

The Good:
+ a good degree of agricultural self-sufficiency
+ houses built to last through harsh winters, pretty good percentge have an alternate method of heating besides oil or electric
+ relatively effective and non-corrupt government
+ effective emergency services
+ significant percentage of male citizens has some sort of military training due to universal conscription
+ plenty of fresh water available
+ lots of wood available
+ sisu

The Bad:
- incredibly harsh winters
- little mineral resources
- no oil (although there are some biodiesel production facilities)
- short growth season for crops
- pretty dependent on imports of energy and raw materials

The Ugly:
- Nearly 100%of population has [COFFEE_DEPENDENT]; coffee doesn't grow in Finland.

Verdict:
I guess we'd live, although not very comfortably at first.

Certainly you could argue that DF is a lot like The Sims, only... you know... with more vomit and decapitation.

Ontario? We're the capital province, both in population and in government.

... I think we're fucked.

Two cases:

Seoul
Pros:
  - Center of everything, including administration and police.
Cons:
  - One of the highest population densities in the world.
  - The only river, which flows straight through the middle of the city, is heavily polluted.
  - There is not enough food in Seoul to feed everyone for even a day,
  - Seoul is surrounded by lots of satellite cities = even less food

So... if it's just Seoul, we're screwed.

South Korea
Pros:
  - Plenty of technology.
  - Has some good steel mills.
  - one hundred percent (male) military training xD
  - Little wildlife in the way of wolves or bears. Mostly boars, deer, and tiny animals.
  - "Korean will" as purportedly evidenced by the history of repeated invasions and the removal of the invaders, and the subsequent rebuilding.

Cons:
  - 27% self-sufficient, rice-wise.
  - Nowhere near enough arable land to feed everyone.
  - No oil.
  - Little naturally drinkable water. Sure, filtering is possible, but without oil? Hrm...
  - Historically, there has been a period called the "barley pass", a time between the spring barley crop and after last year's rice has been all used. It tended to be when lots of people are killed, so yeah.
  - Irregular rain and drought = hard to farm.
  - Dependent on exports to make the economy go 'round, so the economical state will be chaos.
  - Not a lot of wood in the forests of Korea, mostly due to the small area.

Both Koreas
Pros : Same as above, plus:
  - Iron (even if low-grade) in the north
Cons:
  - OH SNAP THE NORTH KOREANS AND THEIR PERM-HAIRED LEADER

Verdict:

Only Seoul? Cue everyone dying.
Only South Korea? We might get along.
Both Koreas? Screwed.

That's three cases. :P

And yeah, Korea is kind of the "Poland of Asia" in terms of history. Wedged between multiple major empires and constantly fending off invasions (and frequently occupied and/or a tributary).

I think it would be "interesting" to see what would happen to Korean relations in the absence of anyone other than Koreans.

I want to see what would happen if A) North Korea were the only survivors, or B) North Korea was transported a thousand or so years into the past.

And in those situations, what would happen if the border guards were intact, and then if they were left behind.

I live around here too and would like to add that we have a few reputable universities, which, even if the school structure collapsed, would mean that we actually have people who understand how all of our technology works and so we could rebuild. There's also a nice hydroelectric dam 30 km away from Vancouver.
You to, eh? When the End hits, all of us Lower Mainland B12ers should bunker up together.
I'm in.
Trouble is, I live in the delta area, so if the apocalypse includes some sort of earthquake, I'm gonna sink.

Oh, yeah. Ouch. If I were you, at the first sign of doom, I'd move up into surrey ASAP, or maybe higher.

Indeed. Living by the ocean, even within a kilometer, is not going to go good for me.

I don't know, there are more interesting places you could set an apocalypse than the lower mainland. Vancouver was the rated (I think Reader's digest) as the most Livable City in the world.  That wouldn't make for much of an apocalypse

It wouldn't become like those violent post-apocalyptic movies because of Canada's gun laws. That's a positive by the way

No, you need a larger area.

I vote for British Colombia - Washington.

Too many mountains, not enough farms. Also you'd get to role-play "Loot Seattle before jacking a luxury yacht owned by some out-of-towners who are now dead and ride that thing all the way to Hawaii."

...Or not.
