I recommend the Jade Falcon Trilogy. You should probably read one or two Battletech novels and surf their wiki for a bit to get the full experience otherwise you won't know at all whats happening. Once you get into it its just as good (if not better than) WH40K novels. It has a very rich and deep in-universe culture. I've been reading them since I was little and still haven't even scratched the surface.
