(No problem. Her name's Fasha, no last name given on purpose. :P)

Kael sat quietly for a moment, looking the elf over, silently measuring her up against his knowledge before answering.

"They were just doing their job in a horrible, completely unpredictable place. They don't deserve anymore trouble than they have already.

Were you the ones who hired him to steal the plans?"

(The Mordekhai/Nepthym/Akari triangle thing, Cael. :P)
((Which direction does the arrow travel? Tell me not, for I will learn in due time.))

"Err, Maria uses ranged weaponry. Deadly things they are...Anything to counter such things would be fine." Akari said as she stared longingly at the banner Mordekhai was holding. To be frank, he was holding it much like a banneret...Stoicly calm.

"Also, did someone say cockroaches?"

Recall what I usually do when meeting the obstacle of cockroaches and in dealing with them.

Also

Wait until Kael is finished so we may head towards Maria's hideout.

"That kind of information normally has a price." Fasha says considering for a moment.  "However, no, we were not.  Those plans were arranged to be stolen by a competitor.  As for why we want them, it is of interest to us, more than that I can't say."

Fasha leans back in her chair considering for a moment.  "Really though, it's not that bad, even in the slums.  Life here is predictable and calm most of the time, even in this place."  though she sounds like she's thinking of long gone times in far off places her eyes constantly stay alert.  She pulls her broad-rimmed hat down to further shield her face as a patron passes.  "So, de we have a deal?"

Kael hummed quietly in thought as he rolled the situation over in his mind. A competitor, she said... Might be worth finding out who they were...

"Not quite yet, I'm afraid. Who are these... competitors you speak of? Do you know what is in the diary, and if so, what is it's purpose? I'd like to know before I start giving away weapon plans or other severe items of interest out of the goodness of my heart..."

Watch her carefully and she how she reacts. Watch her mouth, her eyes and eyebrows especially for stray twitches that could clue me in on what she's feeling.

Tikan gets a pair of non-alcoholic drinks and ambles over to Kael's table when she sees the conversation getting more involved.

"Sorry I took so long, got distracted talking to the bartender... Ah, you're busy. Can I sit down?"

Put one drink down for Kael. Sit down if ok, and sip my drink whilst watching this listener discretely. Otherwise go back.

((my intuition is slightly higher, Zako, and I was hanging around, so... I'll go back to accidentally drinking rum if you prefer though))

Aegnor looks around, seeing that both tikan and Kael weren't there. He didn't see them walk off, which could mean.. Oh right, the elven woman. I guess it was good that the false... Thing, didn't arrive over here... Should I go in there? Hmm. Maybe not, I mean its not like I can really add to whats already happening in there, I suppose.

Aegnor prepares to travel with the others, when they're ready to go.

[2] Her face remains stoic, a sign of her experience as a Listener no doubt.  "Information carries a price, are you willing to pay?"

"Depends on the price, but let me remind ya that I have what ya are looking for and I am quite willing to burn it and let ya go without it's contents if I think ya would put them to ill use." Kael replied evenly. He was so focused that he didn't even look over at Tikan when she sat down next to him.

(Taking over for a moment since I get the feeling V-Norrec kind of has the wrong idea about the order/Caellath has everyone believing they're evil, and as a result Zako's being wayyy too hostile... But since this plot thread is going so poorly I'm just going to drop the idea of the order completely out of the RTD in the future.)

"Very well. I'll tell you the same thing I told your friend Aegnor; my order collects information for the sake of recording it for all eternity. If you burn that journal, then frankly sir, you are a damned idiot and a criminal worse than any crazed murderer. If our God deems information too dangerous, then we merely preserve it; otherwise we occasionally sell information to fund further acquisitions or pay mercenaries to do the job for us... like you are. Now, we reached an agreement for a simple exchange of information; I wanted that journal, and you wanted to know where a woman named Maria was. Are you going to honor your end of the bargain?"

((Or maybe both Kael and Mordekhai are very savvy crusaders of the Zealots and they are very suspicious of the whole deal. :P))
