Nah, Baystation 12, even tough that is the name of our SS13 server.
And some guys managed to stuff 700TB worth of data in ONE GRAM of dna. We could take ALL games!
And all porn, too.
using DNA to store porn? I, don't, really know what to say right now.
If you want people to be behind the project then we have to have a suitably relevant amount of buzzword type things to throw at them until it lodges somewhere in their memories. People love things they can remember.

If we're not going for popularity though, then sure name it whatever, it doesn't really matter. Who'd refer to it really? If nobody but those onboard knew about it, it would always be called "the station".
I wasn't aware We gave a shit what people thought of us. Its not like we arre enlisting from the regular population. That is a terrible idea. And, if we become too famous, there will be all sorts of interference by news organizations, and we will look suspicious to turn them down.

I think it would be difficult to do the former than the latter.

And I suppose I was idealising the who project as being an Aperture Science like setup, where we make nice pastel posters to convince people how great we are, but when they ask anything there's just a wink and the news reporting a missing scientist/astronaut/leading engineer the next day. Because that is how organisations reach success. Being friendly and intimidating at the same time.

the LCS taught me that you can only get success by killing conservatives .

You know, I'm pretty sure that we can afford to set aside a couple a thousand dollars for computer infrastructure on the space ship.

How about personal space. Seperate sleeping rooms. If yes: How much? I mean, space is not much of an issue here, but walls do weight something.

Couples can share rooms. If they arent couples, 4 people will sleep in 4 beds in one room.

AIs have nothing to do with room arrangements. That would be silly.
ALthough I think this might be the only case where DF skills will come in practical, in the form of efficient room layout design. The general ideas still work (people tend to move at a more or less constant speed, minimize distance between closely interacting areas, create multiple/bigger paths on frequently travelled routes), so it might finally be an advantage that our figurehead is Toady's creation.

Actually, speaking of Toady, he'd have to go along right? Mainly so we can get DF updates without having to wait weeks over the radio connection to Earth internet, but also because it'd be a bit strange to have a Bay12 space exploration being the cutting edge in science but not having Tarn and Zach Adams going along on it. Bay12 is their company, it'd be odd if a load of its community were going off with brand new either extremely huge or massively efficient technology to keep everyone alive and having the actual heads of Bay12 not having involvement.

Sorry guys that I haven't been updating - Some RL stuff got in the way. I haven't read through the yellow links yet, but Misko has been good in sending some (rather desperate) message regarding what I should update.

I'll update based off of what Misko has been updating me with. Once I find time later tonight or tomorrow, I'll read up and sort it out a bit better.

Working on update now.

Updated to the best of my knowledge. I'll try to find time to read up soon enough. Sorry again for the delay. But I'm planning on donating to the toad conservation fund, so trying to get them most out of a few projects I'm finalizing.

I estimated that 2x3 meters should be plenty. Most things could be done in public areas, but a desk with a computer terminal and a bed would be nice.

Granorke: As long as the Sun isn't in the way, the Martian base could update DF within an hour or two. Usually, at least. And if we took Toady along, we'd be depriving the Lunar base of as much new DF stuff.

Fair enough. Bay12 will have to wait until it's a trans-planetary corporation I guess.

And I would say that 2x3 per person would be livable. I have a bedroom that's only a bit bigger than 2m across, and I can imagine a 3m cutoff and I reckon I could fit personal belongings in comfortably with more wall storage and things.

I completely understand here. I'm busy myself. Lots of stuff to do. I just dedicate time to df. Alot of time, actually.

plant quality will be extremely high in via space , because there is no bugs and we won't need pesticides .
