Well, he's probably going on the story passing around where the woman had to pay $380,000 more on her girlfriends stuff when she died than if she was married.

Here's an argument for legalizing gay marriage that will appeal to fiscal conservatives: If gay marriage is legalized, more gay people will get married. Marriages have a decent chance of creating a social group in which there is a single breadwinner. Therefore, for every gay couple that marries, there is a chance that two job-holders will become one job-holder, thus increasing the number of available jobs without having to create new ones.

An argument for legalizing adoption for gay couples that will appeal to conservatives: if gay couples can adopt children, more pregnant teenagers know that there is someone willing to adopt the kid, and don't take abortion. Abortion rates go down.
