I dunno, it probably just blended in with all the other awful stuff they played. :-\ Most of the music in that bit was annoying.
Also, one second? At least it's mercifully short. :P



In other news, the hosts of the Australian footage are kinda annoying... :-\ They're the same people who usually do morning talkshows on this channel.

NBC does this too. They just use the NBC sportscasters for the Olympics. It would be fine but I just really hate Bob Costas.

I have to wait until tomorrow to watch all of the stuff I really wanted to see (fencing, archery, etc); NBC pretty much just showed swimming, volleyball, and some gymnastics. Thankfully, my cable provider is supposed to have footage from every event ready for on demand access the day after.

Anyone catch women's basketball? Croatia (their first women's basketball team, apparently) went up against the US's team (four-time gold medalists, if I remember correctly) and were very close until the final quarter, when the Americans started dominating. Honestly, a few times I thought Croatia might win.

Saw the game between GB and AUS last night in the womens basketball. Australia were awesome and will probably be the main challengers for the US in the final. They shut down most of the GB offence with ease and mixed up thier own offence really well, landing a good % of thier 3pointers.

Things to watch tongiht: Heavy Judo finals, Waterpolo group games, and Team GB in the Mens football vs UAE.

Theres also mens basketball, but after seeing USA doing thier thing the other teams can go home.

Watched the US vs. Montenegro in water polo last night...that was pretty awesome to watch. I've been impressed that outside of basketball, the US isn't coming out and utterly destroying their early opponents in the team sports. And even the women's basketball took a while to get it going against Croatia (honestly, if Croatia hadn't missed their first 26 shots or whatever it was...they'd have clobbered the US).

Caught some of the women's gymnastics qualifiers...US team looks a bit shaky at times (even though the NBC commentators gush over every routine and ignore or play down the mistakes). That one 15-year old for GB looked solid though. I still expect China to take gold in the all-around. Their teams are terrifyingly dominant. It's like the old Red Army hockey teams.

In a general look at the medal count:
China is showing that their dominance in Beijing wasn't just an inflated 'home court' effect. They're for real.
Italy is doing very well early on, buoyed by that surprise gold in archery.
Kazakhstan has two golds. Wat.
North Korea has two golds. Kim Jong Wat?
Great Britain doesn't have any gold yet. Pip pip wat?
Germany doesn't even have a medal. Was?
