You elves! This land is no hell. It is merely a land of wars and strife. TRUE hell does not have a single demon, locked up in the single stronghold of a dying nation; that demon should be leading a legion of warriors, bringing death to the world. Those three elven heroes should have succumbed to the forces of darkness. Goblins do not make a hell by existing; dwarves, however, can make a hell if they try hard enough and/or dig too deep.

Upload the world. Start some dwarven fortresses. In each one, build a device that will unleash a devastation upon the world. Flood the forests with magma, or drown the lowlands, or something that will forever change the landscape into one harder to live in. Once nearly every region tile has a fortress in it, start one more fortress, near the heart of the world, and release the HFS.
Upload that world, for you will have truly created a Hell on Gomaththur.

Nice.

But to be truly hellish, there'd have to be nothing left but elves.
I had that once. The dwarven civilisations were nothing but elves, the humans town had a smattering of humans and goblins in it...... certain hamlets were populated by nothing but CATs(think hundreds) and oops, one mountain hall had two or three dogs in it and nothing else. Those dogs represented an entire dwarven civilisation.
I used the app to trace dwarves presence, and could only find two dwarves. One in a human town, the other in the goblin civ.
Truly, it was hell on earth. Catsplosion overruning human settlements, and nothing but elves, elves and more elves.... I'm tempted somedays to return back to that world and play on in my fort, to get that damned monarch in and then imprison him in a tower of stone. Just a few more years, and enduring the huge drop in FPS............

Of course, a new world I just genned........ had the true horrors of horrors. There is only one dwarven civilisation. Its currently engaged in a multi front war against the elves and the goblins. The goblins civilisation is losing, having been steadily crowded out by the humans, dwarves and elves. The Kobolds are expanding into the dwarves and humans realm. The elves alone has true domination of various territories, challenged only by the dwarves.

Oh, I mean goblins. Because the dwarven civisiliation...... is RULED by GOBLINS. GOBLIN QUEEN. GOBLIN GENERAL. GOBLIN SOLDIERS AND ANIMALS. There are still......... some extant dwarves, of unknown parentage, and a couple of them has spawned children, so, it seems that dwarves aren't extinct in world history yet(well, there are a couple of dwarves in human religions, towns, and dwarves who died in goblin servitude so that species won't be extinct).

But essentially, the goblins dwarven civilisation is now pawning the goblin civilisation and engaged in a deadly war against the elves..................

I leave it up to you to imagine if that is hell.

Sure not. You'll get first two waves from generated non-hystorical dwarves, and then if there are no alive dwarven civilization, you should get no migrants.

But what if your civ had taken over some goblin fortress and the goblins outlasted the dwarves, would they not migrate?

There is not a single flux stone in the entire world. I could not make this up if I tried. Steel, the tried and true metal of dwarven kind, does not exist.

So you can get a few bars every year, that's not enough to work with, right?  Wrong.  Dwarf forge and smelter pseudoscience is so advanced that they can make chain leggings with one bar of steel, melt them back down, and wind up with a bar and a half of steel.  Not that you can do much with half a bar, but the next time you run the reaction the smelter will spit two bars back out.

Dear armok, is this true??? I hope it is, not for exploity/infinite-metal purposes, but just for ease of armorsmith training. And was this true in .31.25?

I don't know if it was true in .31.25, but it's true now.  There's a bug report on it.  I've only personally tested axes though, I was more concerned with getting a legendary weaponsmith and was willing to endure the slower return rate to get it.
For armorsmith training, leggings are great, and for weaponsmiths battle axes are good - both give 3/2 bars when smelted. For metal multiplication, you want coins - look on the wiki page for exploits under Adamantine factory or something like that.

If we disregard the trading and hauling, multiplication through coins costs 501 jobs (1 job to create the coin stack and 500 to melt them down) and give a net profit of 49 bars, giving you about 0.09 bars per job. Multiplication through leggings or axes costs 2 jobs and gives a net profit of 0.5 bars, giving you 0.25 bars per job. So even if we disregard the hauling of 500 separate coins between the depot and stockpile, bar multiplication through axes and leggings is still about 2.5 times as efficient. The only advantage of coin multiplication is that it works with any metal, not just the weapon grade metals.
