I made a mod where giant spiders, snake-people, minotaurs, dwarves, and a gnome-like creature were all the same species.  In spite of being radically different sizes, a snake-person and a spider could get married and have a minotaur as a child.
A wonderful love story of a family that is truly without prejudice.

Dark Knights - Legendary undead warriors with legendary stats steel armor and a bluesteel cutting weapon travelling either alone or very small packs.
:o
Adventuring mode would be extremely different after that, that's for sure.

Depends, are they the shambling kinda undead that are just exceptionally dexterous in combat? At this movement/combat speed split that's possible and more realistic (hah!) for undead. They could also just be cursed wanderers equivalent in difficulty to giants in Skyrim. Sure they'd slaughter all but the most seasoned of warriors, but they might just not care unless you piss them off.

I do like the idea though, warriors of a past era (created from restless bodies of the best warriors from legends, only in longer history worlds of course) that shamble either alone or with their most trusted servants/friends guarding their long-dead kingdom. Sure it might be a lot of work for nothing, but just the mental image of a rusted steel breastplate, complete with worn, now illegible engravings, crookedly hanging off of a skeleton wearing a crown or cracked helm, dragging its weapon across the ground as the townspeople cower in their homes is cool enough to warrant some interest.

I'd still pay for giant turtles over it though =/

A basilisk would be pretty cool. It would probably need to be made larger than most descriptions will have it since a small semimegabeast sucks. The hard part would be trying to find a way to make creatures avoid the petrifying stare.
How I wish for LOS induced syndromes...

I gotta agree with Knight with the Gorgon thing. That would be a very interesting megacreature, that would utilize the present system well.

But I'm much more interesting in Additions to the game, that not about killing. Its why I went with the Sphinx. You don't defeat with combat (But you could.)

A Wendago would be a great Night Creature.

And I'm a fan of Slenderman. So Slenderman.

I don't know about semi-megabeast, but how about a night creature that the gods cursed to attain some aspects of demonkind? Also, is it bad that I can barely see my s and d keys?

"Dresk Vorthosh is a demonblooded human male. He is skinless. He has four arms. He has three eyes. His horns are pointed. His mouth is sewn shut.
Hesquirms and fidgets as he makes anguished sounds. He has a desire to kill all around him. Now you know the gods are cruel."

The greatest monsters are men.

But aside from sentients, the worst monsters are bears. A grizzly is already a horrible monster that only the greatest of warriors could defeat. We don't need any monsters worse than a Grizzly.

Cockatrices, they would be easier to implement than basilisks and will bring back happy memories to nethack players.

To this day the elven warrior castes hunt the enemies of nature for the purpouse of bringing back slain intelligent beings for consumption by their leaders and generals, for the good of nature and the survival of elvenkind.

And that is the story of how napalm was invented.

I hope that was a joke.

No need for a new beam or ray gaze attack.  They have their non-directional hiss (easy, just make it an area attack like gas or dust), and the peck (just tack on petrification as a rider effect to a basic attack).

Brown Bears are more dangerous then grizzlys. The Grizzly just has the reputation.
