there are no wood and no plants, right? then you need at least a pick, or the materials to make it, also bring lots of wood to make some protecting wall asap... then dig and dig and dig to your salvation... or not...

The fisher-dwarf and his child died of thirst, its early-autumn and the survivor is not unhappy anymore, just content.

I have the trade depot up, and hopefully this goes well. Not a trace of undead yet either... For that matter, it's been snowing normally as well.
I may have screwed up something in world-gen. What determines the type of rain in an evil biome?

Is there a way to move it? I wasn't really planing on surviving this long, but I guess I am.

In other news, one of the starting seven rose as a ghost, four more useless migrants (and two kids) and its late autumn with no sign of the caravan.
Still got 15 more days 'till winter. If there is no caravan, I don't think the fort will make it.

Spoke too soon! Outpost liaison and the rest of the caravan just arrived! Now to steal absolutely everything!

As an alternate to killing everyone, you could do seven independent hermit forts at once, each in a different spot on the map. In theory you could divide the site into 8 or 9 equal sized zones. :D

I was originally looking for some help, but it turned into a challenge. It only has half of the map haunted anyway (the ocean isn't).
Unfortunately, its all getting pretty standard now once I got the caravan, and I'm not too fun to watch build, so I won't be making this a community story or anything. I guess that's it for this thread.
