After the total destruction of my last fort to zombies, I decided I didn't want to be challenged militarily, but environmentally. What more of a challenge than a glacier? In fun-loving stupidity I decided I'd go with just food, drink and animals. I calculated exactly how many barrels of each I would need, and set off.

...Embark does not count food or drink by barrels.
To make matters worse, it started raining human blood.


Well, here I am on a haunted glacier, first time on a freezing embark and only my second time on an evil.
The only thing looking up for me is that there is no blood in one area. You could also count salt water among my blessings, but I have no way to make a well.

So far, I've only deconstructed my wagon, moved everything over to the spot I think might be safe, and made a small overhang that is "inside". I am going to burrow them all under it soon, to stay warm.

Total Supplies: 3 Wood, 17 Drink, 20 Food, 2 yaks and four chicks.
                                  No pick.

You know, I would say use the wood for a butcher's shop and use the animals for food, but since you don't have the materials to make a pump and cistern, I'd say you're good and boned. Bear death well, Armokspeed.

Yeah... that was pretty much what I was thinking.

What if I kill all but one of my guys, will there be enough drinks until the caravan arrives?

If you brought a pick you could at least tunnel for fresh water, but alas, 20 food/drink will not last you until the first caravan, especially considering traders sometimes "forget" about forts far from their home civilization. Could realistically be years before you see a caravan. Tell the Blizzard Men I said hello!

Wiki says a dwarf drinks 4 times a season. I have just over a year's supply for one dwarf.

Theoretically... If the caravan actually comes...

17th Felsite : Late Spring

Success! Everyone died! Everyone but my miner, that is.

He isn't too happy about piling his friends in a heap, but on the bright side, his friends aren't killing him. Seems I was correct about the coastline being evil-free.
Puffins and Seals for my wildlife so far, lets just see how it goes.

I am making bone armor for him, out of the first Yak. There seems to be enough ale if I ration it well.
