What do you mean everything involves herring? I mean, it could be due to the location I live in, but from the top of my head I can think of one or two (somewhat) common foods that involve some form of herring.

And then there's salmiakki.

Not to mention your beer might go right past chilled to frozen solid. People in far northern climes actually buy refrigerators to keep stuff cold WITHOUT freezing it.

Thanks for reminding me I had a beer cooling in a freezer. Luckily it hadn't been there long enough to freeze solid.

While, yes, there are racists in Australia, they're the same you get in every country. Our racist groups tend to hail from the same sort of stock as say, your american Rednecks.

Maybe its just because of the disproportionate amount of stuff I hear about racists in Australia compared to American racists, or maybe its because of a discussion I had with one Australian that forever coloured my perception of Australian politics who basically said that the American interventionist foreign policy is the only thing preventing the Yellow Peril of China and Indonesia (lol) from taking over Australia. He then proceeded to applaud anti-East Asian immigration laws in the 1940s and argued in favour of a limited form of segregation to keep Australia mostly white. It was surreal, like I had just walked through the door and was talking to someone right out of the 50s.

As a Finn, I feel like I should represent my country here and list some bad sides.

-We have our share of terrible politicians as well. On the other hand, we nearly got an openly gay Green Party candidate elected president just now. But err, anyway, xenophobic nationalist right-wingers abound.
-We have horrible taste in food. Utterly horrible.
-If snow's not your thing, you're out of luck. If it is, we don't always get that much of it here in the south (the only part of the country worth living in, obviously).
-Aaaand I hope some of my countrymen will help me out here.

I'd like to mention you'll have none of that silly dubbing thing in TV shows and movies you'd find in Germany, Italy, etc., so you can hear all your favorite shows in propah Amurican. (I mean, jeez, learn to read, large-part-of-Europe, subtitles are a thing.)

If that's the best "worst of Finland" list you can come up with, my bags will have packed themselves.

Is New Zealand really that hard to get into for a non-Australian? As a native, I have to say I'm not entirely surprised. Regardless, I cannot recommend the country enough. It's pretty and the sheep are fantastic whichever way you have them.

Also probably some other stuff too.
