A truck is nothing more than an engine driven minecart with a place to sit.

No wonder I can't figure out minecarts.

Anyone who knows Vector knows we aren't all DFers. She came for the Mafia games, I think.
AFAIK, Janet doesn't DF, either. I find that kind of weird, considering her love of moddable games.

Lot's of the people who hang out in the nethers of this forum tend to have fallen out of love with DF. A rare few of them never actually played the game in the first place.

Though I've got to say all the ego stroking we've been doing on ourselves lately is incredibly unappealing.

Lately? It happens constantly.

Occasionally. Usually it ends up with everyone complimenting each other until someone mentions ego stroking, and someone makes a new thread.

*compliments compliments*

Okay, this is getting a bit silly.

Yes it's good to be introspective.
No we're not the best place in existence.
No not everyone else has the IQ of pond scum.

But seriously, it's okay to like the group you belong to. We're not claiming inherent superiority. We're not saying we're the magnificent "us" compared to the dirty and loathsome "them." We're just saying hey, this is one of the neatest places I've belonged to.

You want some ego deflating? I can criticize the forum, the members, the moderation, etc. There are nitpicks and problems to point out; nothing's perfect. But I don't feel the problems are big enough to warrant bringing up in a thread like this. Let people be happy with themselves, goddamn :P

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

But happy people are unproductive and lazy. A constant level of misery and self-loathing is required for maximum efficiency.

I learned this from Dilbert.

I'm not the only one, then, that's good to know. :P

Although I'm a bit more creepy in that I usually don't post much.

I think constant posting is more unsettling than reg'lar lurking.

I managed to rack up 4000 posts in my original 6 month (or so) stay on Bay12. That's straight up grotesque.

I started really posting here with the You Are Wizard! game, and somehow have ended up with a large amount of posts since then, though I do have this forum sitting as an App Tab in FF4, just to make use of that function.
