A pop ratio of 0 resets it to 100, so not that.

That seems...oddly counter-intuitive. Has this been tested?

Presumably, Toady has never needed to use [POP_RATIO:0], so it isn't coded to work the way one would expect.

for NOBLE only castes

for UPGRADE only castes

If a Entities noble position can only be filled by a caste that never appears that caste is forced into existance to fill the role. And syndromes/interactions can transform a creautre to the hidden caste.

For Toady a [POP_RATIO:0] is not needed, but for us modders it would be awsome.

Why would Toady code it to replace the 0 with a 100? It'd be simpler and saner, and what the math predicts--0/6 would be zero.

Yes, but it appears that your starting caste is determined by pop ratios--it's just that you can choose which anyway.

I think it's the way towns develop now. In the beginning, people move into a town. Then they start producing tables, which results in more and more tables. Soon tables represent a significant portion of the population, they start lobbying for new laws and regulations, putting people to greater and greater disadvantage...

CHANGES:
Queen positions are now limited to Queen castes. A drone will be forced into the leader position when you embark, but you can't assign any non-Queens to the positions after that.

I'm working on a domestic creature you can change into several useful forms, such as one that spits acid and another that explodes. I'll have 'em done in a few days (hours if I get motivated enough ;P).
