I really hope we can talk to people we're fighting, giving them the option of surrender. You might even be able to get a surrender from LETHAL combat if you say, bisect the leader and shout something like "Do you court death, or surrender?!?"

Also, you don't take armor off for bar brawls, you just cheat to high heaven and low hell. Like a -true- hero.

What about talking someone into surrendering whilst they bleed to death? There would have to be a very fine system in place for this to work.

I'm not sure that would be a huge kink. I mean it makes sense that someone would surrender when they were near death and it makes sense that it may not be enough to save them.

Wasn't there something in the planned features about giving someone a clean kill if they're in pain or something?

If so, an enemy that is "bleeding out" might give you the location of his treasure trove if you agree to give him a warrior's death. I'm guessing that will be the solution for the "surrender! ...even though you're going to die in five minutes regardless" hiccup.

One of the reasons I was disappointed that Red Dead Redemption never came out on PC (but LA Noir did, go figure) was the opportunity to lasso people up and drag them behind your horse.

Better yet was hog-tying a bandit, putting him on your horse, riding out to coyote country, and leaving him in the woods. Watch from a safe distance and nyuck-nyuck-nyuck as brutal justice is served.

Also railway tracks. I guess that would be minecart tracks in Dwarf Fortress.

Aaand now I've gone from one fantasy (thanks Logrin) to another that includes riding horses (or other critters) in adventure mode. And pack horses. Do you know how many dead giant cave spiders I could fit on a donkey!?

Maybe you can get a medic skill in the future?
So if you nick someone in the neck you can make them surrender then apply first aid.

I hope with the new seperation of movement from attack speed, and combat reactions (a la catching an incomming blow) That I can get surrounded by 5 thugs, taking them all out with a simultaneous double punch-double kick throat bite. I shall call it "Judging Starfish Style"

I just thought of reactions with a cross-bow. If we no longer -have- to reload immediately I'm going to be an old world Doc Holiday. Just carry several pre-loaded x-bows and drop them after each shot! I fully expect whenever a warlord says he'll kill me I'll mumble "You're a daisy if you do."

The closest I can get currently is firing at a thrown enemy for a bit of skeet shoot or firing into a wrestled enemy.

I hope we can yank grabbed foes (or adjacent companions) into the flight path of incomming arrows....
