I admit, I watch Steven Universe. Alot. It's a good show and it gets deep enough for me to take it seriously; but I go into fridge logic every once and awhile while watching it.
For instance, where the hell's the government? We know there's a nation outside of Beach City and we know the videos about the Gem Homeworld ship have gone viral, it stands to reason there would be a investigation. Perhaps Mayor Dewey tried to cover it up and hence no major investigations, but I would think
something would happen in response to a known extraterrestrial sighting.
This is where I go into "What I'd like to see" mode and start coming up with a story I know will never happen. Minor fanfic incoming:
This little plot tangent I've come up with was because I noticed that while Steven has role models from every angle: Older sister, Mother types, Father, friends, he doesn't have a older brother figure to look up to and this is where Jack comes in.
The Supernatural branch of the FBI (We know it exists! I believe!) takes a minor interest in the "Beach City Incident". They send out a single agent to investigate the video and why Mayor Dewey called a city wide evacuation. This guy.....just so happens to be a combo of Kamina from TTGL and Agent Mulder. Jack: He's cheerful, intelligent and very weird. He's interested in everything E.T. and gets excited to Ronaldo levels when he sees this kinda stuff come true. He wants to see everything that's out there, outer space and otherwise.
Jack's a Psychology major and biology minor who found clinic work or lab work to be too quiet for his loud blood and decided to get a job where he can put his interests first: investigating the unknown! He's worked at the FBI's E.T. branch for a few years and found absolutely nothing, but he don't let this get him down. Somethings gotta be out there. So imagine his surprise when a video of a alien ship shaped like a hand goes viral. Naturally this gets him (really the only active field agent in the Supernatural branch) assigned to find out just what the hell went down in Beach City. Of course, his beat up 2-door he's had since college gets a flat while he's coming into town and he's forced to stop at a nearby car wash...
If this is against the rules of this thread I will cut this story here. Needless to say, I love the series so far. Estelle as Garnet was really just genius to me.
