If I am recalling correctly, the original Double Down Man was created by Retro in Toony's tournament thread.

Also, someone posted the images to DDM's Facebook at one point. He claimed he was in a hurry and didn't have time to get his hair right.

If it's a model that ancient people made after space craft they've seen, I think it's a bit suspicious that there aren't any aerodynamics issues. The copy should have *some* flaws.

My thoughts were "Hey, cool!  Maybe ancient people managed to make a glider out of cloth/wood/whatever and experimented with it enough that they came to a design that looks similar to a plane."

But nope, aliens.

I actually saw this on the History channel when it aired >_>

I have to say that something like this is rather amazing, though with History Channel one can never be sure.

Ah.

Do you know that the wings don't have to be aerodynamically shaped in order to fly, on small planes? Just smack any vaguely wing-shaped pair of flat surfaces and make it go fast enough, and it FLIES. It's more of a resistance issue - think of pushing your hand parallel to the direction it is going under water, then pushing it perpendicular to the water - than aerodynamic !!SCIENCE!!.

I love the Double Down man to an unhealthy degree. He works using some sort of inverted Occam's razor and it makes for entertaining TV.

He's not 100% a bay12 meme, unless we've got a pony artist in our midst. I've got a Derpy version of him in my avatar rotation.

But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Does it actually involve Double Downs?  The "Aliens" one is the wider internet one.

The meme was obviously started by aliens.

Oh, that part specifically just being a bay12 meme sounds more reasonable. So it probably is.
