My personal interpretation is, that the natives saw something cool, copied it down in their jewelry. Modern scientists built a full scale model (that engineer guy they show in the 747 cockpit is actually really well known, and a pro) did a bunch of !SCIENCE! and found out that the airframe could fly very well. There's more to it. The people in the video have been corroborated. Its an anachronism. It seems U.S. online culture in general has gotten really bent over anachronisms.

However I am not saying Mayans flew with powered flight. =P

I was also being humorous because people like to point at all kinds of studies, and things and say "Look this says armor was unwieldy and they needed cranes" (we bay 12'ers know this is not the case).

The logical flaw that I concluded they had powered flight was part of the jest. Which is exactly what I'm trying to illustrate.

Yup, there is sound, don't know why it's not working for you, but the video cites its sources. The original material does so better. Theyre talking about the Aerodynamics http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernoulli%27s_principle for example. It takes a little more then putting on a motor to achieve Aerodynamic flight (versus, what I would consider ballistic flight).

In 1997, two Germans, Algund Eenboom and Peter Belting, put the theory to the test. (pictured)

Eenboom centered his research on historical evidence and concluded the "wings" of all insects are attached at the top of the corpus, not at the bottom, and that all Incan artifacts except these few suspected "planes" were made correctly.

Belting made a model plane, first with a propeller, afterwards with a jet engine. Whereas the first has to be launched by hand, the jet engine one was also equipped with landing gear.

At the recent Ancient Astronaut Society World Conference in Orlando, Florida, the two researchers showed extensive footage of their model planes.

The propeller-powered plane flew perfectly stable. But the crowd almost gave a standing ovation for the jet-engine model plane. With an impeccable take-off, flight and landing -- and an exact match to the model found in the Inca grave -- the model is truly an airplane.

Eenboom and Belting gave a live demonstration in a parking lot of the Florida Mall in Orlando, in case anyone would still doubt it after the videos...... Michael Lindemann, Editor, CNI News

God, Bill Birnes is completely fucking insane, to a hilarious degree.

I remember seeing the episode on UFO Hunters where they built a larger scale model of the glider and rolled it down a ramp in a "science" experiment that would've gotten them a B+ in 8th Grade.   It flew pretty well (Holy shit, a model shaped like a plane is aerodynamic)

** nvm i re-watched the video, the guy in the 747 cockpit says more and has much better credentials then Birnes, TBH I would have not used him if that was my documentary =P (for those slightly confused, the whole documentary is a few hours long and that clip is slightly out of context, and missing good important bits IMO)
