It was intended as a pig motorcycle, and an allegory for the slang term "hog". Anyway, I don't have a problem with ambushes bringing mounts, sometimes arriving uncloaked, and raiding for valuables instead of trying to scour every drop of dwarf blood within a mile. Refering to them as "motor gangs" or impressing them by killing imperial goblins doesn't make much sense to me.

I can see marauding bands of bandits of various kinds being impressed by killing soldiers of guards of civs that they are enemies with, but that's something completely different.

Why all the hate for Goblin Bikers? Sounds rad to me, but as a modding project rather than an official thing.

Motohogs sound cool, too. Giant swine with metal struts and wheels instead of limbs, and sick sunglasses grafted to their eyesockets. Motogobs would use switch blades and straight razors and rather sharp haircombs, and would wear *green glass sunglasses* and <<ostrich leather jackets>> and xXbeak dog leather motohog helmetsXx.

With certain tweaks to language files and sphere associations, you could probably get hokey-sounding gang names like The Angels of The Underworld or The Impending Wheels or The Burning Rubber. cool stuff like that

The goblins have been outcast because it is illegal to ride a "motohog" (whatever the HELL that is) in Goblin City (noise violation)...

If you think about it, human bandits sound like a good idea, but elves? Come on man!!!
Motohog is a pun, or play on the words. (Motor + hedgehog)

I thought it was Motorcycle + Hog (pig). My bad...

This could work.

It's immersion breaking by way of anachronism, and it's not nearly awesome enough to be justified by rule of cool.  The only new thing it brings to the table is trampling, which could be nifty but isn't a big deal.  And the OP is overselling it as something great when it's a lukewarm insipid offering at best, so folks may be coming at it from a position of disappointed annoyance.  He's just trying too hard.  I think he'd probably get a better reaction if he was attempting to impress with substance, rather than effort.

Hmmm... That's strange... Usually, when I have a GOOD idea, people hate it, but when I have a BAD idea, people take the bait. I already knew that this was BAD, but if you think about what I just said, you would realize why I posted such a stupid idea. I mean... Seriously? Goblin bikers? Motorcyles (and the concept of bikers) didn't exist back then!!! I bet the people who didn't respond are laughing their asses off right now...

And for the record, I'm NOT trying to impress ANYBODY. Why would I have to? All I am doing is posting a (very very lousy) idea. In fact, if you think about it, people must have been impressed anyway 'cause I got them to respond.

So, textbook trolling to which you're now admitting?

Thought of an idea for Motohogs - every couple turns they make they release a cloud of exhaust, with a chance to cause blood-coughing to all non goblin, non motohog creatures that breathe it in.

"The Dwarven Baby is caught in a cloud of exhaust!
The Motohog gores you in the left eyeball with its right tusk, shattering the skull, jamming the skull through the brain, and all that nasty brainy stuff!
The Dwarven Baby has been struck down."

I still like the idea of ambushes sometimes coming mounted, or at least their leaders being such.

No. A "troll" is a deliberate attempt to get people to respond in a NEGATIVE way. It is named after a fishing technique called "trolling" in which the fisherman keeps the bait in the water (or something like that) and the fish, eventually, take the bait. If I was a dirty, stinkin' troll, wouldn't you think that I would have disagreed with everybody that replied to the post? With the nature of a game like Dwarf Fortress, there are bound to be hundreds, even THOUSANDS of ideas cropping up and it takes a true leader to acknowledge that, only by taking risks that could, possibly, lead to failure, he will, eventually, find success. That is what I am. A true Leader. :)
