Eric came up to the trade depot and peered in. There were numerous cyborgs standing there, staring right at him. Suddenly one of them raised their sword and said "Charge!" in the most disgustingly monotone robot-voice it could concievably muster.

Eric turned around and ran for his life back the direction he'd come. Like any true siege force in DF, they chased down anything that could concievably be an opponent without regard for current objectives.

"Zanitkibidi-Zanzitkip-ZANNIE!! RUN!" He screamed, nearly a dozen metal behemoths in tow. The cyborg that had been in the hut with Clockwork was also running up behind Zanzetkuken, preparing to knock him off the rails.

This wasn't going to be an easy fight...

[I was poking fun at the fact that his username is nearly impossible to pronounce in a stressful situation. It's either Zannie or just expect him to know when people are yelling at him. :P]

I hope you people don't mind, I'll go to sleep now-ish. Back in about 6 hours. Oliolli will spend the time getting patched up by Giz and getting some rest.

[No sword, only steel fists and arm-mounted chainsaws]

Hugoli punched himself very hard in the head, exclaiming "Take that, you traitor! Without me, you wouldn't have a body!"

"Armok curse you, Eric!" shouted Zanzetkuken.  He pulled himself up with one arm, grabbed the automation by the throat, and pulled himself downward.  He kept a tight grip on the edge of the catwalk, and let go of the automation's neck after it had been pulled off the catwalk.  It careened downward and crushed one of its comrades below as it was destroyed in the impact.  Zanzetkuken pulled himself up and shouted, "As far as I can tell, I've killed more of these than you!"

[I have the weirdest schedule ever.  I can't make regular checks/updates on this thread, so this story-thing I'm working on is going to be very erratic.]
Gizogin took Oliolli back to the hospital, where the many dwarf miners were currently resting, sedated.  Meanwhile, Gizogin X walked around the jet block, trying to find a pattern to the inscriptions.  A few of them looked vaguely familiar, but he couldn't think where he could have seen them before.  Suddenly, Gizogin X realized that the block was making noise.  There was some kind of steady, faint tapping coming from inside it.  He put his ear close to the block for a better listen, but as he got closer, the tapping ceased.  Puzzled, Gizogin X walked back over to the entrance to the dining hall, where the G-Body VI was standing guard.  Behind him, unseen, the box began to open...

The dwarf blinked.  He was curled into a tight ball, surrounded by... he wasn't sure what.  They looked like little balls of fluff, not entirely unlike those weird little weeds he'd seen on the surface.  Dandelions?  Whatever.  These fluff balls were much thicker and fluffier than dandelion heads.  One of them gave a little squeak and rose into the air.  The rest followed suit, and soon he was surrounded by squeaking, floating puffballs.  All this commotion drew the attention of the two figures standing on the other side of the room.  One of them, the one that didn't look like someone had called a statue to life, called out something, but he couldn't make it out over the squeaking, which had become quite loud.

"I said, where did you come from?," yelled Gizogin X.  Where the jet block had been, there was now a muscular dwarf covered in fluff.  Something was making an awful racket.

"I have no idea!  What are these things?" the dwarf yelled back, trying to shake off the fluffy creatures.  He swatted one of them away, and his hand came back covered in some kind of powder.  "Eurgh!" he said, and ran straight for the human who had spoken.  The fluffballs followed behind, but they moved very slowly, and he reached the door before they were more than halfway across.  "Out of the way!  I have to get out of here!  I have to..." the dwarf said, before collapsing to the floor.

[Yay, lots of stuff!  I managed to weasel my fluffballs in, which is nice.  These are the new, improved ones!
Spoiler: FLUFFBALLS (click to show/hide)
They're basically fluffy death incarnate.  The iceballs are especially deadly; in single arena combat, they can kill giant sponges.  Sure, they do it by encasing them in ice, but still.  Oh, and I have plans for the dwarf.  He's a very !!FUN!! character, I can assure you.]

Hugoli leaned over the railings on the side that Zanzetkuken wasn't hanging from. "If that's how you want it, I'll throw this whole body down the magma pump stack and leave you ungrateful swine without one! Then we'd both die! I don't care!"

"Oh yeah, well I won the battle! I destroyed their production-thingies! SPHM may have gotten the last strike on my last target, but I get points for disabling two of them!" Eric panted as he ran.

Eric rounded the corner of the retaining wall and slipped through a section of incomplete walls too small for the cyborgs to fit through, and began making his way to the center, where there was a hatch leading to the fortress.

I was already on the catwalk...

Zanzetkuken stood up on the catwalk, and he noticed at his waist was the adamantine blade he had gained long ago.  It was strange, but the blade seemed to glow.  He drew the blade from its sheath and the entire blade glowed a mixture of all colors of mana.  He strode over to Clockwork and said, "Let me make the decision for you."  With one swift blow, he sliced through both arms that were holding up clockwork, causing it to fall down the magma stack into the magma below...

[That's too easy... Besides, the magma would have cooled significantly by now. Almost ready to dig it out. He'd just break some bits.

Thanks, keyboard, for helping me butcher every word I type.

Wait, there are no catwalks around the depressurization vents. The stack isn't straight, either. He'd have at most a 1-story fall.]

He rolled down/broke through the layers, and broke through the near-obsidian magma to the still liquid magma.  And nothing says that they won't possess another body, such as one of Gizogin's robotic ones, along with nothing saying that Clockwork isn't magma-proof.

[That's a hell of a lot of fairly thick stone floors to toss someone through, and STILL have enough force behind it to crash through 1-2 feet of solid stone before meeting anything mildly squishy (which would catch him as the force would be distributed into the soft underlayer, which probably wouldn't be warm enough to melt metal, at least not before he crawls out). And actually the stone would be rhyolite, andesite, or dacite (something between the previous two). It forms a thin crust of obsidian where it contacts the air, but the interior is insulated just enough that it actually forms regular crystals of those minerals present in the magma. I stated previously it was felsic-intermediate in composition.

I'd wager that if you managed to toss him with enough force to crash through all that material, he'd actually explode on impact with the first floor, sending his clockwork components everywhere like a hand grenade had gone off. Sure, the floor would collapse afterward, but it'd smash him. That's a hell of a throw, though.]

His arms didn't break, you just kicked him Leonidas style! It's just cooler that way...

Hugoli tumbled downwards, smashing through the layers of machinery with the force of his weight and the fall and eventually punching through the crust over the magma. His body was only slightly dented by the trauma, but as it sank into the magma, the metal began to melt. Hey Oli. What? Remember when I said we'd both die? Yeah? I lied.

As he sank into the magma, he held up his left arm, making a thumbs up sign. Slowly the metal frame went under, and began to melt.

The pump stack was already mostly caved in from the explosion, I'd bet.

Clockwork hugo opened his eyes, and took his hands off the comatose Original body of HugoLuman. A pity. That avatar had taken a lot of time and effort to design, embodying both the concepts of clockwork and HugoLuman. Still, it had been a fun excursion. The memory of it would somewhat relieve the eternal monotony of this place.
