OK seriously, are skills random? Because I would LOVE to know how someone gets experience at strand extracting outside of a fortress.

Beards are stronger then pure-adamantite, they strand the beards and pluck dead ones. Thats how.

I jut want to know if this proves that settlers come with random skill sets, because it is, as far as I know IMPOSSIBLE for dwarfs to get Candy outside of fortress mode :P

Strange, I must have been in here for too long. I feel no remorse from butchering dwarves, making zombie babies or burning hippies but when someone mentions plucking beards I suddenly feel like its unthinkably brutal and revolting. ???

I got one in the old version.  At least then, it was random.  Probably still is, to some extent.  Don't forget, your fortress is a settlement from a larger civilization.  Those dwarven caravans come from somewhere.
